Suboxone Question...

I've been addicted to Vicodin for over 15 years and I was off Vics for over a year and half.  I stupidly went back on because of a kidney stone (I'm prone to them).  Anyway, the Vicodin seem to bother my heart.....that is I felt like I was having heart problems right after I started taking the Vicodin.  That never happened before.  All that lasted badly for about 3 months.  I even had an heart cath done and everything was OK but I swear I felt like it was my heart.  I asked if it was the Vicodin, but they said no.  Anyway, I have bi-polar disorder and borderline personality disorder.  I've tried most of the anti-depressants and nothing helped.  The last time I quit the Vic's I felt really good for 4 months, I mean really good.....manic I guess you'd say.  I was taking Wellbutrin and Lamictal, but the feeling and the mood slowly faded and went from awesome to fairly depressed.  I wasn't rock bottom or anything but I was far from feeling good!

OK, so anyway Vicodin (in the short term) seems to work for me.  I did some research about Suboxone and talked with my doctor and he put me on 4mg a day....one in the morning and one at night.  Well I took the first dose on the first day, later since I didn't get it until about 5PM and then didn't feel so hot.  I sort of got a tightness in my chest and feeling a little anxious.  Well I took the 2nd dose at 12AM and I felt REALLY bad.....it's 6:22AM right now and I still feel bad.  I felt REALLY anxious....halfway thinking about needing to go to ER, but I know it's just in my head.  Oh and I found out I took them wrong.  I thought you were to swallow them only find out later that you let them dissolve under your tongue.

I'm fairly sure not much will change for me doing it the right way, but don't you guys agree that the Sub seems to have similar 'negative' effects like the Vicodin did, except worse.  I'm only gonna try one more dose...doing it right this time, now that I read the directions....sigh.

Can anyone confirm my thoughts.  I can say I am more than happy to stop this crap now.  I've been off Vicodin for two weeks and w/d's are virtually all gone....well I guess they are all gone.  At least if I have to stop the Sub now, I shouldn't experience too much w/d after only taking it for a day and a half.  What do you guys think?  I'm just trying to find something that will help me, but if I have to push my body into 'adjusting' to it like I did Vicodin, then I know it's not right and I'm done.  I just need some input!  Thanks in advance!

I completely agree with the above poster.

If you swallowed it you got nothing out of it. You are feeling bad because you are withdrawing from the vicodin. The suboxone didn't help the withdrawals at all. Since you swallowed the sub it's like you didn't even take it. Didn't your doctor explain to you how to take it? It must be dissolved under your tongue. Hold the it there and the saliva and don't swallow for at least 15 minutes. It should have dosing instructions on the pamphlets that came with your script.

If you take it like this it should stop your withdrawals. It may take a few days to get it in your system but you should notice a difference right away.

Update...well I've been taking it for over a week and I feel better.  I'm still having some nervous episodes but I'm not sure if they are panic attacks or the med.  I'll just keep taking them like I'm supposed to and see how it pans out, but it's definitely better!

OK, thanks guys......I took one dose today and I felt allot better than it did yesterday.  I still feel slightly nervous, but much much better than yesterday.  No, the doctor didn't tell me how to take it, but I read the pamphlet after I took the 2nd dose yesterday.  I was looking around on the Internet and I noticed people talking about putting it under their tongue.  Well, anyway, I'm guessing the anxiety will get better and better.

youre sick because you swallowed the sub. buprenorphine absorbs extremely poorly when its swallowed but naloxone which is in it gets absorbed readily, so the reason you feel so bad is cuz the naloxone not only doesnt really make you feel good it usually gives you a bad headache and blah feeling but it puts you back into wds from the vicodin..and none of the buprenorphine was absorbed in your system to make you feel better...swallowing it was def. a costly mistake i dont believe youl be making that mistake again

The only WAY to take suboxone is to have it dissove under your tongue. youe are not suppose to swallow it. you probably just have an upset stomach, and the way you are feeling now is withdrawal from the vicodin. you should call your doctor and tell him/her what happened so you dont overdose your body. Again, the ONLY thing you should be doing is having it dissolve under your tongue. It is the only way it is effective!!! Call your doctor before taking the next one!!
