Suboxone- Quit or stick with it?

Okay, I got a lot of great responses to my post last night. Today I lowered my dose of sub from 16mg daily to 8 mg daily. I see my doctor tomorrow and I have a list of the side effects I've been having to give to him. The lowered dose I took today made a huge difference in how I felt. I did still have one short lasting period of semi-high blood pressure, but nothing I had to go to the ER for. I was also able to keep my eyes open all day. I did take a 31/2 hour nap though. Now I'm wondering: if I can feel decent on this stuff and get down to an even lower dose (4mg daily), should I continue it? And for how long? Will it make it easier to get off of at the lower dose and shorter time period? What is the common cut off date when you can be reasonably assured you're wd's are done for? Or, should i just tell my doc I want to get off the pills w/o the sub? I'll appreciate all suggestions. My original plan was to do a medical detox and a month of inpatient rehab, but my doctor said it wouldn't work and put me on this instead. I'm starting to not trust him so much. When I called him to tell him about my problems on day 2 of the sub, he basically interupted me and told me take the full prescribed amount and it would solve my problems. That's when things got worse. Maybe I should find a new doctor? I'm kind of up in the air about this whole thing and very confused about where to go from here.  More advice is very welcome!!

Thanks,
Cindy

If you follow your doctors advice, he'll keep you on a higher dose for a long time...not good. If you lower your dose and tell the doctor, he may throw you out of his program. This has happened. My sisters an I have been on Sub for almost 8 months and haven't told the doctor that we've lowered our doses. She still thinks we're at the original amount we started at. The doctors really don't seem to know alot about Sub, although they'll act like they do.
I would suggest you keep tappering down your dose, until your at 1 or 2 mgs, then decide if you want off or to maintaine at that dose for a longer time.

It seems that doctors are a little off about how to use the Sub maybe because its new.
