You need to sit down and talk with your doctor. He can help you with a taper plan as these need to be tapered. sara
Have you spoken to the doctor? Have you tried to decrease the dose on your own?
How much do you take?
HI welcome to the forum....xanex is a funny benzo it hits its own brain receptor witch means you just cant switch over to a longer lasting benzo to make it ezer to get off of....your best bet is to tell your doctor you want off and they can do a slow taper it comes in 1mg .5 mg .25 mg what they do is step you off .25mg at a time its a slow process but it has to be or you will risk seizures as a whole the forum dose not recommend do it your self xanex detoxing you really do need a doctors help with this one and where all about home detoxing just to many things can go wrong trying to do it yourself good luck and God bless......Gnarly
Hi there. Xanax, being a benzodiazepam, cannot be safely stopped cold turkey, and is definetely not advisable. You need to go to your doctor who prescribes them, tell him/her you want off, (being honest as to how much you take them and how you need to buy off the streets) and get them to set off a taper plan.
It is very possible to get free of them - but you really need to taper - benzos are not like opiates that you can just stop cold turkey and suffer through a week of withdrawls and be done.
But once you have a taper plan, you can safely get off them for good.
Don't be worried to tell your doctor you want off, if you are worried he/she will cut you off if you tell them you have resorted to getting them off the streets, maybe leave that part out, and just tell your doctor you have decided to get off them, and you want a taper that will give you minimal or even better - no withdrawls.
Best of luck :-)
