Day 8 off oxy's and darvocet - too tired to function, not tired enough to sleep - What to do??!!!

Sorry I've been so outta touch - no energy, even crawling to the computer was an issue... Day 8 clean from oxy's and darvocet which I'd been on for years...  I ran out of the Valium I took to get me through the first 4,5 days... So now I'm going bananas!  No energy to do anything - and having a heckuva time trying to sleep!!  I force myself out for walks everyday, I take hot showers or bath to help with the sore muscles - I'm trying herbal sleep aids, taking vit. C, B, acidopholus..  What else am I s'posed to do??  How long does this phase last?  I'm an old (young at heart) geezer of 50, so I ain't no spring chicken...  I'm gonna go to an AA meeting tomorrow night for some support... AHHHH!!!!  I feel like such a wimp... I'm not helping any of you guys who are probably in a lot worse straits than I am right now...

So just please know that I'm pulling for all you, thinking of you, praying for you, and giving you all a big high-five, handshake, bearhug, whatever helps you out the most!!!!!!

Love,  Nefesh

Is any of the other stuff on the amino list also helpful?  Is the 5HTP expensive?  How often do you take it?  Is it for pain or energy or a good sleep.... or all three?? By the way, thanks to YOUR kind letter I pushed myself to go for a long walk today - which although it ain't helping me sleep much even after a hot shower and herbal relaxants  (it's 1:30 am where I live) - but it made me feel so much more alive again... when I started walking and humming that dumb sweet little jingle by the kinks "crazy little thing called love" I just started sobbing right out there in daylight on the sidewalk!... after that I was "cool"... went to my first AA meeting (folks here say AA or NA's the same and there's more regular AA's so it's actually a better bet)...  at the meeting I noticed a funny thing... I became so absorbed in listening to these deep honest people baring their hearts that I forgot about my own pain for awhile!  Thank G-d!  What a gift...
By the way, techno question:  will you or anyone see this or after almost a day am I s'posed to repost it a as a question up top??  I don't know want to be a new-sense, just do what folks do round these parts...  How are you doing??  How long you clean from what?? How's the pain/sleep/energy doing?  I only have happy warm good thoughts for you...
Thank You....        L,  Nefesh

Kim:  Thanks for the encouragement!  I need it muchly (as we say)...I'll try walking more and more often, specially before bed...  do you know anything about the Amino Acid Protocol??  Has it helped someone??

First congrats on day 8,thats wonderful!!!!!!! I know you're not feeling too wonderful right now,but 8 days is a big accomplishment.
As far as what you're supposed to do,it seems like you're doing it.You're staying clean and you have plans on going to a meeting and you're posting here. You also have to not be so hard on yourself and give yourself some time. The sleep issues and the pain are things that most of us found took the longest to get under control.I really found that exercise helped me the most with both of those.Don't get me wrong,it was really painful in the beginning to get up and get moving again, but the more I did the easier it got and the better I felt.It also helped to tire me out a bit so I could get some good sleep.Like I said 8 days is great but you just have to be patient with yourself and give it some more time.Soon you'll start to feel a big difference.Let us know how your meeting went.Keep posting. All the best...Kim

So what we s'posed to do??  Compared to others I should be so grateful and happy really but what I mostly feel is the pain I was trying (unsuccessfully) to escape all those years with pills... now here I am on Day 8 clean, can't sleep, body pain, don't know what to do with myself - so I thought I'd write here - although I write slower with lots more mistakes and a lot less, how shall I say, poesy (i.e. creativity)...

LOL, I feel your pain!!!  Day 7 off Fentanyl / Darv (some others too) and I feel like dying.  I get 2-3 hrs sleep a night, no energy, can't eat, never ending RLS - even on prescription RLS meds!!!  Somebody, please shoot me and put me out of my misery.  :[
