Tapering is tried and true. It can and has been done by many. When I tapered off subs, I wrote it down. I think it would help if you form a realistic plan while your head is somewhat clear. Once you have a plan, then there are no more decisions to make. I tried to taper methadone a lot of time, but was too casual about it. I would drop too fast and then go back up, so I ended up on subs, that's why I wrote it down on a calendar with subs. There where times when I wanted to take a little more, but I would look at the calendar and decided to follow through on something for a change. You may want to consider a different taper schedule for each med you are on, starting with the stronger ones first. I'm sure your doctor will help you with a plan for the ones you get from him, then continue that with the meds you get elsewhere. Making decisions is difficult while feeling the effects of withdrawal, as your unbalanced survival instincts over-ride your logical mind. You can do it for sure, but I think some realistic preparations would help a lot.
Yes, you can! I was on a VERY high dose of oxy. I tapered way down and am on day 3-4 and it is getting better.
Hi , You have the support of many others that have done this . Like conhall said do it 1 hour at a time 1 day at a time , I was on Norco for 9 months different drug then you but we are all in the same boat . I tried to go CT went 3 days and cried and wanted to die . After i failed Ct I started reading posts and started a taper plan . It's hard but doable. I think its about half as bad as Ct.
After weaning 3 1/2 weeks i am Now on Day #6 CT and starting to see the W/D tummy body head aches ease up to the point i can handel. Even got a few hours sleep last night , the most sleep i have had in over 3 weeks . My day today is looking better . Hope yours will soon be good to .
Read posts about the W/D helper Drugs some people maybe do need them . But they scared me after reading how hard they were to get off of . Why trade one addiction for another . I only want to do this once . Try to get thru this without SuB if you can . I am 65 years old and my DR. put me on CL patchs for blood pressure that went very high because of the W/D . They also seem to ease the tummy & body a bit. The CL patch is only needed for about 2 weeks and non addicting . I also followed the advise about the Vit's and eating & drinking water they help . See Thomas recipe at bottem of this page . I also used Ensure when i just could not eat food .
You can do this go slow with a planed taper , take as much time as you need . Go slow and keep cutting your dose every 5-7 days , its OK to go longer if you feel to much discomfort . Just keep reduceing your dose i think it takes about a week for your body to adjust to the lower doses . You will know how you feel so ajust when you feel you can . Go as slow as you need don't put to much pressure on your self . Slow wins the race , To fast causes you unneeded & to much W/D. Ron
How about thinking that you can do this without bringing in the sub. I just feel you have that in your mind and it is driving you right now. Sub isnt a magic pill. Get your doctor on board with this taper and it will go much smoother.
Hey Buddy!
Is this your first day at the drop in meds? If so I have to comment that it is a very fast cut back. I always tell people to set yourself up for success when you are ready to do this. That being said, my fear for you is that you will really feel the withdrawal by tonight or tomorrow and you will take more pills. You need a proper taper schedule and you need to stick to it. It can help to ease the process in the long run.
I absolutely think you can do this without Suboxone but that is your personal choice.
you can do this I dont know specifics of what you were taking But I do know it an be done! Take it one hour at a time one day at a time :) Stay positive and know there is a light at end of tunnel!,
Stay Hydrated stay Nourished, keep posting for support and each day It will get easier I promise you that!
