cold turkey

My dr. Just stopped me cold turkey from fiorinal3 that he knows I have taken for over 15 years or more. I go to a pain management dr. Who told me in the beginning that he want family dr. To handle my migraine and tension headache medicine.  But noe he told me to get it plain without codeine.  Well the family dr. Refuses to fill it PERIOD. THE Pain management dr. Won't fill it until next apt. A month from now. So were im at now is the f.dr. said"he will never fill it again" I find this horrible.  And the other dr. Won't for 1 month my last pill was last Tuesday I had 1 left. And there was a holiday monday. Today I had a horrible headache. Im scared I dont know what could happen next. Im so disappointed in both drs. I have alot of medical issues. Could anybody help me out on this w/d info. How long if any im on oxycodone and fentynal patch for arthritis,  fibromyalgia,  herniated discs and degenerative disc disease to mention a few. Also not mentioning migraines/tension headaches please help me on what to do. I also was wanting to sign up for social security could changing drs. Affect that now?

I know quite a bit about butalbital withdrawal. I know it's dangerous to stop cold turkey due to the seizure risk.  You've been off for 8 days so you may be beyond a risk now.  Rebound headache is a major symptom, along with anxiety. That's why I asked you about Xanax. That would help the anxiety and cover any risk of seizure.

As far as the doctor cutting you off is concerned:  I think when he found out you were getting narcotics from another doctor, he didn't like it and it looks like doctor shopping. The pharmacy may have told him or your insurance notified him. In the future, you need to get all controlled substances from one doctor OR make sure all your doctors know what you're taking. Frankly, you didn't need Fiorinal with codeine. Plain Fiorinal would have worked just fine for you.  Physicians are getting very strict about prescribing guidelines and are rightfully nervous. Your doctor may feel like he was "used"...

I hope this helps-

I don't mean figured out aboutw/d I meant responding back to your post. I messaged you before with more info. Then I figured this thread thing out. I will try what you have suggested.  If anyone knows anything about butalbital withdrawal please share with me if you could. Also does anyone think what that Dr. Did was wrong? I've been going to him for many years and feel BETRAYED.

I may have figured it out. I was told also something about the prescription laws have just changed I think whatever you get at pharmacy shows up at drs. Office on their computer where and when ect. I have nothing to hide but maybe its putting a fear in drs. Im not sure but the nurse said in past month things have changed.

Hi there and Welcome- Do you know WHY the doctor is refusing to fill the med?  What other meds do you take besides oxycodone and fentanyl? Do you take Xanax or anything along those lines?

Try some regular, old Excedrin for the headache and employ some other comfort measures: Cool cloth, water, coffee or tea, etc...
