You have gotten some good advice and things to think about. The Thomas recipe can be found in my journals. http://www.naabt.org will help locate a sub Dr if you go that route. You have to be in withdrawal (18-24 hrs usually) before taking sub. I would not recommend the off the street way. There is a reason, that only certain licensed Drs can prescribe. Do shop around, though. There can be a WIDE variance in costs...for the same treatment. Good luck.

I do not think it will be. I would not do anything other than get the meds from the doctor though. Here that is very imporant advice to consider and I'll tell you why.
When I met with my Dr this morning and told him everything he gave me papers to read. He said read through all this literature and then come back at 1pm. It was very important that I not start dosing until after 1pm. I'll tell why in just a moment. Bur first, while reading the literature, it very clearly stated that you do not want to begin taking Suboxone until you are into your withdrawal symptoms and are experiencing mild to moderate withdrawal. The Suboxone competes with the Opiates to attach to the receptors, if there is any opiate in your system, then you will very quickly go into a very violant state of withdrawal. If you take the Suboxone anywhere from 4 to 6 hours after your last dose of (hydrocodone) vic, then you will probably be OK. What the doctor will do is ask yoiu questons reagrding how you are feeling. The reason for this is because he is trying to gauge where you are at in your withdrawal. Again, he is trying to make sure there is no opiate in yoru system, because he does not want you to experience a sudden rush of withdrawal. Anyway, The reason he wanted me to wait until after1pm is because that would have been 6 hours after the last time I took my hydrocodone. Believe me, at 1pm, I was crawling out of my skin...it was terrible. Anyway, My doctor instruced me to take half a tablet and let it disolve under my tongue and then he let me lay down in his private office on the couch. He checked in on me an hour later; asked me questions to find out how it was working then had me take the otyher half a tablet. Since everything was going well, he let me go and I have to check in with him every day. The Suboxone is not a med to take lightly at all. It is pretty serious stuff. In fact, Doctors have be have a special license and training to prescribe Suboxone. My doctor just happened to received the training a year ago so I am really, really lucky. Anyway, if your Dr is not licensed, then he will be able to refer to someone who is. Again, this is a very volitile drug, but it does work. Dont mess around with your friends extras. See your Doctor and let him guide you through the whole thing. It may be inconvenient to check in with him everyday, but if you look at what you are gaining, it makes it worth it...doesn it?
If I can help further, please let me know Gottaquit. YOu can do do it. I wish and pray the best for you.

Hi Gottaquit,
My name is Mike. I posted for the first time here last Friday, and received great advice. I can't say that I can offer you much. Your dosage was the same as mine, in some cases I was taking 30mg 5x day instead of 4. Anyway, I tried to quit C/T and it was just too crazy for me, the withdrawals were impossible for me to work/live with. So, I made an appointment with my doctor and got in to see him immediately this morning. I spilled the beans and he was very compassioniate. No judgement or anything, just wanted to let me know he will help. We agreed to use Suboxone, which removes nearly all of the W/D symptoms allowing you to do go about your day. The first day houwever, (which today is my first day) its best not to work, but stay home. THe Suboxone does have some of its own side effects that include making you a bit tired, light headed (but not buzzed), relaxed, (but not buzzed relaxed)...does that make sense? I am not in any way buzzed. I am just relaxed and do not feel anxious about anything. I also do not have any cravings for the hydrocodone (vic) or anything like that. This Suboxone really does work well.  I am however very tired and ready to go home to a hot shower and then go to bed. but Gottaquit, I really feel like I can overcome the addiction and its becasue of the Suboxone. Honesty, when I posted my first message last Friday morning, I had ZERO belief that a solution could be found and I would just end up being on these things until I either went into a detox center and/or my marriage fell apart; losing out on my children's daily activities. Suboxone really does give you hope and if you can get to a doctor that can prescribe it, I would REALLY ENCOURAGE IT. Your message did not say anything being able to go (or not go) to a doctor. Trying it cold turkey with the amount of intake as you described, (which again was almost exactly like mine) is going to be really difficult. If going to a doctor is something you can't do, and plan to attack this on your own; cold turkey, then I would encourage you to check in with a recipe that is called the "thomas recipe" I think it has a list of things that will be of use (and explanations of why they will help)listed in the recipe. Again, I know I"m not much help, butyour habit was closely related to mine, that i felt compelled to share with you, what was going on with me.
Best of luck and I hope you stay focused. I have said a prayer for you and will continue to pray for you.

That's 90-120 mgs a day, huh?  That's about what I was doing.  With the amount you have left any taper is out of the question.  It would be way too fast and wouldn't make much difference.  Working is going to be tough, however, it may help to keep your mind from only thinking about pills.  When I quit I was at home as a stay at home dad, and all I did was sit and think about the pills I didn't have and it drove me nuts.  Just pass any physical symptoms off as a bad case of the flu.  Mentally you just have to keep your mind occupied.  And check the Thomas Recipe.  It won't be easy, especially at that intake.  I know from experience.  I was always afraid of withdrawals so I just kept buying and taking until the amount needed was just getting out of control and I knew I had to face it.  So I did.  It wasn't fun, but the time will pass.  Klonipin helped me a lot.  Plus I'm on two anti-depressants, so maybe that helped.  Good Luck.

Oh man I need glasses. Well its gonna be tough but it can be done. Find the Thomas Recipe and it will help. Lots of vitamins and lots of water. Atleast you will be able to sleep. That seems to be the worst part for some. Sorry about that I see what you were saying now. Good luck

I'm sorry. My eyes are still giving me trouble and did'nt see the part where you said you have one left. In that case stop now and don't take it. Since you have to work you will want to work as long as you possibly can and I mean possibly can without taking that last pill. When you absolutely cannot stand it anymore break it in half and only take half. This will help get you through the day. If you can make it through today that would be good. You can use it tomorrow. If you go to goingtomakeit's profile he has The Thomas Recipe on there and that will help. That is about all you can do. Thank God your not taking 10 or more a day as that would be very tough. 3-4 a day will not be to bad. Good luck.

Ok, well the good news is that your at a pretty low dose. Sounds like you were actually taking as prescribed. There are a couple ways you could do this. Just my opinion but this did work for me. I would take 3 today and try 2 tomorrow and Thurs and Friday just take one but take it in halves and if your off for the weekend. Go c/t Saturday and Sunday. W/D's should be pretty mild.

Also you could ask Avisg for a taper schedule and she could make one for you that would take you down to nothing and leave you with very minimal w/d's.
