They know way more than they let on, methadone was created by the Nazis original name dolophine, so do u think anything created by them would be good for ya, prob not. I agree but they know more about tho a devil drug than any other out there, they know what they are doing, turning us to useless zombies so we can’t fight or stand up for ourselves, it’s a fubar system we need to change, it should be about compassion n healing not profits..
I don't know if it sticks in your bones and rots your teeth. I know, however, the half-life is monstrous and you're better off getting onto a short-term opiate like oxy or dilaudid. Four days of hell beats 24. Also, don't do what I did and two hours after your last opiate dose IV 4mg of that stuff. Oral has 22% bioavailabiliy, so I figure it was like ramming 16mg down my throat. Precipitated w/d was immediate. I literally ran to the toilet, dropped all my insides, and ran back to my bed scared ********. Somehow I managed to fall asleep and woke up in about four hours feeling somewhat normal.
Are you coming off suboxone if so I have many side effects and I dont know which ones are from it and which ones are from my injury as I'm taking it for pain get back to me I'll give you my email if need be thanks
I've been on suboxne for 15 years and weened off very slowly with no problem. While I was on Suboxone my teeth and skin never changed. Maybe everyone is different. Maybe some ppl get untoward side effects and some don't just like any other medication.
I have been using suboxone for roughly 16 months I decided to switch after research from morphine to suboxone I'm prescribed it for pain however and it works great with the opiates I felt withdrawn and unmotivated. It basicly gives my back and leg a numbing effect as I have permanent back and nerve damage from a collision. That I do hope to come off it at some point but the withdrawal from all the opiates and I was taking 240 mg. Of it a day and if just curbed the pain, but I do hope one day to be free of all of them.
One person's experience not all!!!!
Hey Cindy—10+years on and off subs here. How are you doing? I’d like to speak more with you. I think, as women on long term subs, we can talk.
Actually, Subs have kept me productive and out of trouble with the law. I'm sorry your experience was so horrible with them, but is it really the only bad thing you've put into your body? I take ONLY (and I mean) ONLY my Subs and work my program. I do NOT take any other crap other than coffee and antacids. I've never had a problem and decades ago I got in all kinds of trouble because docs gave me off label meds...I was not harming anyone but the state wasted lots of money on me and stole half my life. I WELCOME SUBS and I think they can be good for those who will use them properly.
My own experience with subs has been life saving and I hope if I take it slowly day by day I can be rid of them.
God bless all and hang in there. Understanding is the key to getting help and receiving it.
Cheers.
I was really thinking about calling my Doc and using this option to help me ease my withdrawal symptoms but thank you so much for this advice. I see I must face this cold turkey. And hopefully get through it and come out tougher than I was before and never think to pick up any pain killer in the future
Hey Cindy,
This is Mary. I have been on subs for 10 years too (after an intense 6 years on 500-600mgs of OC/day. It took me a year to come off of the subs. My husband was on it for the same amount of time and tried to quit with me for a year. We felt SICK the entire year. We both lost our minds, drank alcohol to replace and numb out even though we have never been drinkers. We both now have 5-6 ARRESTS from DUIs, PIs, etc because we were totally out of our minds sick for 12 months! It was JUST LIKE GROUNDHOG DAY! Funny you stated it that way because that’s the EXACT way it is. IT NEVER GETS BETTER. Day after Day after Day...you NEVER WANT TO GET OUT OF BED. We were never warned by our doctors that put us on subs. I cold turkey DT’d off of the 500-600 msg of OC that I was on everyday for 6 years straight. It was violent and horrible as expected, BUT it *ended* after 7-10 days! I was weak then, but recovered. Subs are the DEVIL. Holla at me, I’d like to talk to you. My email is: ***@****
Answer to: “how come no doctors really know what the long term side effects and the many actual DAMAGEs to the body subutex does??”
Because most of the medical students I went to undergraduate school with (I’m a PhD Organic Chemist) don’t care about the side effects (meaning what other body SYSTEMS are affected) they don’t care about learning the basic chemistry of how they work and or don’t have the fundamental capability to relate that to how they affect other similar systems and chemistry of the body. They memorize what is “going to be on the test” to get an A. Most barely passed organic chemistry, which means they can’t understand how the medicines (most are organic chemicals meaning are mostly made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur) work or react with organic chemicals in the body ( bio-organic or biochemicals). I used to say they’re just mechanics, but that lowers mechanics to the level of someone with only rudimentary knowledge of how to change a tire. You must do your own homework as best you can. The only thing I do is mention something about liking organic chemistry and see what they say. If they loved it, you probably have a 50:50 chance they’re capable, if they hated it and you need them for a difficult issue, run and try to find a doctor that is capable. Thay last phrase is the rub. It takes so long to find a capable (meaning competent) doctor that you may suffer quite a bit.
*sigh*
I'm right with you my friend. I've been on methadone at a clinic for 15 years, 180mgs.. and when I miss just one day of dosing I'm climbing the walls!!!!... I was just thinking about switching to Subutex at my doctors office but now hearing about how it's just as bad as what I'm taking I'm scared ********... Idk what to do??.. I'm also on Xanax, Adderall, Seroquel,lamictal,..all on top of the methadone..wish me luck, and I wish you torment to leave you alone as soon as possible. Be easy my friend...tye.
Went in to detox off 40mgs of methadone they put me on suboxone and i have been having severe headaches that have been going on for 2.5 months now and i dont know what to do. The headaches are 24/7 i have tried everything like ibuprofen Tylenol aspirin migraine headache medicine that's over the counter. Nothing works....i need help....please.
Been on a steady dose of 16mg for the last 4 years and come off it twice previously before that by tapering. It helped me get off Smack & Methadone in 2004 by making things far more comfortable in detox. Not used smack since then however have had probs with Codeine on and off.
They say 'less is more' with this stuff and can't wait to start coming down off it because am getting anxious/worried about the effects it seems like it's had on my bones/insides/brain tbh? Find it like an 'Opiatey' steroid or something + get very angry at times. Almost feels like have taken 'Phet' because talk lots, feel like cleaning 24/7 etc etc!! Am also permanently red in the face though my BP is usually normal!
But anyway don't think I would have reached 40 without it and doesn't take a rocket scientist to know the damage I've done to myself abusing Class A/B/C drugs etc....! See all my old mates (ones that are left) still stuck on smack looking old with swollen filthy hands, grey hair, fed up etc and glad haven't been sticking a needle in my groin anymore every day like certain associates!! 365 times a year (at least) inserting a needle down below = I dread to think how would have been.... Let alone FELT.
(However know easy it is to relapse so will try and keep things in the day as NA say)
Cheers for all these posts.... Just to say when come off it before have had minimal withdrawals when tapering slowly however did suffer a nocturnal seizure in detox the last time from 12mg, but reckon they did it too quickly & do suffer with 'Opiate Induced Epilepsy' so hardly surprising really... When off the stuff before have had these weird shakes/shudders, sneezing finally returns and get nervous though feel like that on it anyway tbh..
Nice 1/Respected..
Yes, Valerian Root is a very good choice for use during particularly the dangerous acute phase of a benzo w/d, due to (as previously stated) the fact that it has GABAergic activity. In fact I argue its very smart to use at such a time, albeit in a controlled manner. Abrupt and overly rapid benzodiazepine detox is one of the most dangerous and stupid things to do. The brain goes into a state of such shock over disequilibrium and it can cause, aside from the known risk of seizures, a grand slew of perhaps permanent or at least years long mental issues. I know of this from my own experience, btw. I was rapidly taken off of a 3mg.day Kpin Rx (in 2 days, no substitue long acting benzo used) and suffered a withdrawal that made a previous severe opiate w/d seem like a walk in the park. I reccomend Valerian Root EXTRACT (~3-5x the recco dose) and Ashwaghana EXTRACT KSM 66 to 5% withanolides as a base and minumum stack. Kava Kava is also quite useful to add if one can. I don't endorse daily use of these (aside from the ash) but ~4 nights a week and trust me it just might save your sanity and also GREATLY IMPROVE your odds at a succesful full quit. Cheers guys, good luck. Much love to all you
Very insightful and nice to see someone thinking for themselves and not put others down and all on the same "level". Nor the same situation.
Thanks for having your own thoughts.
Hi and welcome to the forum....first off I am not a fan of sub or methadone it is over prescribed these days for people with low or moderate habits......if you compare the detox from these drugs you will find them much more difficult to stop....with that said I do believe there is a place for them...if your slamming a needle in your arm or eating pills like M AND M's it can truly be a life saver....it will put your addiction on hold and give you time to work on the problem's that have got you into this in the first place I always recamend the N/A progam it is free the meetings are only a hour long and it will help you fix the train wreck your life has become in active addiction both sub and methadone in conjunction with a good aftercare progam is defiantly a way to treat this disease that has a very high success rate without it your odds are less then 10% if you have questions please feel free to ask.......Gnarly
Yeah just ignore all those whiners who need suboxone, methadone or subutex to get off opiates. Once those meds came out they make heroin, oxy's etc different now and all you have to do is " pull yourself up by your bootstrap's and man up". Try it and see how it works out for ya. Keep in mind the ones who go crying to a doctor with that "it's going to kill me, I cannot stop on my own" are just weak and looking for another high.
Others, including myself have experienced different results than you. It can be dangerous to expect everyone else will have the same results you did. You seem to be very angry. Some counseling may be helpful to you.
SUBS AND METHADONE ARE FN GARBAGE. HANDS DOWN NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. ESPECIALLY METHADONE. IT AMAZES ME THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL DEBATING THE "DOES METHADONE REALLY ROT YOUR TEETH AND BONES" ARGUMENT. THE ANSWER IS YES IT DOES. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT JUST VISIT A METHADONE CLINIC HERE IN CHICAGO AND SEE IT FOR YOURSELF. THESE PEOPLE ARE LITERALLY FALLING APART FROM THE INSIDE OUT. YOUNG PEOPLE TO WHO WERE PERFECTLY FIT AND FINE TO BEGIN WITH WHEN THEY ENTERED THE CLINIC WITH NO DENTAL ISSUES. THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THEIR LATE TWENTIES AND EARLY 30's IN WHEEL CHAIRS AND HUNCHED OVER WITH WALKERS

THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THEIR LATE TWENTIES AND EARLY 30's IN WHEEL CHAIRS AND HUNCHED OVER WITH WALKERS FOR WITH HALF THERE TEETH GONE. I WAS ON METHADONE FOR 14 YEARS. I ALSO WATCHED MANY PEOPLE DIE SIMPLY FROM TAKING THERE PRESCRIBED DOSE. THEY JUST GO TO SLEEP AND DON'T WAKE UP. ALSO, HEROIN AND OXY WITHDRAWAL IS A DAY AT DISNEYLAND COMPARED TO GETTING OFF METHADONE. I AM 36 YEARS OLD AND ON CRUTCHES FROM METHADONE WD AND YES I TAPERED SLOWLY. THAT CRAP DID SOMETHING TO MY BONES AND JOINTS. THE "DRY MOUTH" THEORY FOR THE TOOTH DECAY IS A LOAD OF CRAP TO. IN MY 14 YEARS ON METHADONE I NEVER EXPERIENCED OR EVER HEARD OF ANYONE COMPLAINING OF HAVING A DRY MOUTH ON METHADONE. METHADONE ALSO HAS PSYCHOACTIVE PROPERTIES THAT DRIVE YOU NUTS OVER TIME. THINKING YOU CAN CONTROL DRUG ADDICTION USING HARDCORE DRUGS IS THE ULTIMATE DECEPTION PERPETRATED BY GREEDY DOCTORS AND BELIEVED BY DESPERATE ADDICTS LOOKING FOR AN EASY WAY OUT. WHEN IT COMES TO SUBS AND METHADONE PLEASE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
-FORMER METHADONE ADDICT OF 14 YEARS
Everyone is different. I've used subs with success. On for 2 years. Tapered over 6 months, been clean for 7 months with little to no cravings. Addiction is a complicated disease. I usually recommend against using subs as I think it should be used as a last resort. But it does have its place for some users. It has clearly saved some lives. I also take responsibility for my actions. Nobody forced me to abuse opiates and nobody forced me to use subs. One of the best things an addict can do for themselves is stop blaming everyone else for their problems. There's work to do and you are the one who has to do it.
I came across this 9/2015, I doubt anyone will be able to answer anything but I will just post my experience for people who come across this after me:
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DO NOT GO ON THIS DRUG FOR LONG TERM MAINTENANCE.
I was on this for 1 year and 6 months originally before tapering myself off, which was a horrific and painful process (worse withdrawal then anything I've EVER experienced) but that's a different complaint. After the initial year, my back teeth starting crumbling and decaying one by one. Every single tooth past my front (top&bottom) four teeth have a GIANT crack/hole/ect.
I got off of this drug, relapsed within three months, after 18 months of not using street drugs. I had no idea the effects Suboxone had on your cravings/ect. I was NEVER encouraged by my doctor to seek therapy while on maintenance ect. I was told my teeth were rotting due to dry mouth.
So when I made the (awful) choice to get back on suboxone as a last resort two months ago, I decided to purchase everything I could for dry mouth, and see a therapist, ect. Basically to correct my mistakes from the first attempt at maintenance, now two months later, my teeth are in SEVERE pain to the point where I have to pull my car over because I'm crying so hard. This drug as RUINED my teeth at the age of 21, i was told I'll need a partial denture, if I stayed on this I know I'll lose all of my teeth.
The manufacturers of this drug and doctors who recommend long term use, are money hungry pigs that do not care about you. (shocking, I know) but still sarcasm aside you'd expect a little compassion and truth.
Get off of this drug, I can't stress it enough. I felt suboxone was my only chance at being "clean", that I was a special case who wouldn't stop using unless my receptors were blocked and getting high was impossible.
I'm now, 21, crying even typing this because of how much pain this has caused me, and now how much MORE money my addiction has caused me through dental procedures. I periodically check for a lawsuit against the company making and selling this, because it WILL happen.
For now I report "adverse effects" to the fda.org, and am searching how to taper off of this without it being the hell I experienced the first time. The withdrawal went on for a month straight, even after a taper.
I'm so sorry for your experience. Yes, you definitely traded a minimal habit for a much bigger one!
Are you still on the sub?
