TRAMADOL QUESTION...someone let me know please....

i was cleaning my room yesterday, and came accross a bottle of #30 tramadol's 50mg. i never even took one of them. so here's my question: isnt tramadol an "NSAID"??? is it a part of the "anti-inflammatory" family? they are rx to me, but it was awhile ago before i knew about these ulcers. plus last night and this morning i've been throwing up (its got acid in it) and have a bad tummy ache. I was wondering if i should try a "tramadol" instead of the pain meds when i need one. if anyone knows please let me know....

luv ya,

girl why are you throwing  up?? is there any blood?  Ok they gave tramadol for pain..i don't think it is a full narcotic but i have heard of people getting addicted to it..BUt don't take it unless you talk to your doctor about your ulcers.I am worried about you..

Tramodol is not a NSAID's it is like an opiate. In your condition though I would take what your tummy knows.. introducing a different med may upset it. I know the 3 times I took tramodol it upset my stomach much like Darvocet upsets my stomach..
Take care of yourself girl..Call your doc if needed..

i think i'm throwing up from pain (its pretty normal for me to do) i had to have an old root canal opened up yesterday and flushed out. because its "inflamed" pain meds wont really help, the dentist said advil would be the best and i cant take it. but my jaw bone hurts soooo bad it makes me nausaus (sp?) i just got a call back from my Gastro Dr. and he said not to take tramadol cause it is a NSAID, and to take some "tums" between my Protonix doses if i'm having ANY stomach acid. so, i'm gonna go by the dentist office in a little while and see if he can just "renumb" that area for me. i told his asst. what was going on and she told me to stop by. Its not good for me to throw up this much (and theres NO blood) trust my i have an "eagle-eye" on that one, LOL

i'll let you know what happens... how are you doing today???

thats so weird cause i have always gotten a tummy ache from Darvocet too. My Gastro Dr. went over my "entire" medication history with me in the hospital and said that excessive use of Darvocet can damamge your stomach much like ibuprofen, but its not an NSAID. i havent been on Darvocet in yrs, but in my early 20's i got #100 tablets a month for my Endometriosis. i think all the yrs of taking Darvocet and Ibuprofen (when i was staying off the pain meds) really did a number on my stomach.

how was the wedding??? i've been so busy w/ the girls i dont have the time to read thru the posts. i got the pics you emailed. GIRL..... you looked absolutely beautiful.....

Why not ask for some Phenergen its great for nausea.. They gave it to me at the oral surgeon's office. They give it to you so you don't get nauseas from the pain meds.. it sounds like it would be perfect for your situaion. Ask the doc or dentist..

GIRL TRAM IS HIGHLY ADDCTIVE... IT TOOK ME 3 WEEKS WITH KILLER WITHDRAWLS to get off it... i took it for 2 years and even though its not a narcotic it wrks like one and is as hard to get off of as narcotics if not harder.. it shouldnt hurt your stomach and its not an NSAID.. it works on the brain just like narcotics by binding to the oipat receptors just like  narcotics

Tramadol is not an NSAID it is an opioid but not scheduled as a narcotic like hydrocodone and morphine are. It should not give you a high, I use this to wean many of my patients or to switch to medication that has much less potential for abuse. I only know a handful of people who have been able to get a high from tramadol. However, it can be incredibly effective for pain relief. Like methadone, tramadol increases serotonin and norepinephrine, in combination with the endorphins it increases this is very effective pain relief for most. It is not scheduled as a narcotic because it has much less potential for abuse than other opioids. It binds to your mu opiate receptors as does hydrocodone and most other opiates, but does not bind as strongly (has a much weaker affinity) making it less addictive and usually w/d is not as severe. However, as I mentioned in other posts about tramadol and as you can see with Jeff, there are those who will experience w/d just as or more severe than hydrocodone or other opiates but this is very rare. Withdrawal symptoms can also include not only w/d from the endorphins your body is not producing as much of but intensified by the lack of serotonin and norepinephrine at certain receptor sites. And yes it can be very effective for stomach pain as is darvocet. Phenergan and compazine are antiemetics that will help with nausea and vommiting but are not pain relievers. Opiates like darvocet are often used for stomach pain as many NSAID's can upset the stomach.

Hope this is helpful sweetie~ haven't heard from you in a while, how have you been?

i'm doing good, my girls are FINALLY HERE!!! i will say that i am soooo tired. I havent had them with me since x-mas (except for 10days in Jan and Mar.) and since my blood transfusion my enerhy level was just starting to come back. Well now that i'm a FULL-TIME MOMMY again my energy has taken a huge dive, LOL. Plus my tooth started acting up on Monday. its were i had a root canal done in Feb, but never had finished, so he went in and flushed the infection out. Advil is the best pain reliever for the inflammation, which i obviously cant take, so he was kind enough to flush it out instead of making me wait for the antibotics to work. my jaw is sooo sore now. I'm doing so much better on my pain meds too. I struggled for about 2 weeks with them after i came home from the hospital. I was looking to the hydrocodone for energy (which us addicts have a habit of doing) and it just wasnt working. i talked to my dr. about it and he told me to REST!!!! and i'll tell you, now when i feel tired and fatigued, instead of taking an extra pain pill, i lay down for about 20 mins and WOW what a difference it makes. My body really doesnt care how much laundry i have to do or how dirty the house is, it only wants rest and it took a couple of weeks for my "thick head" to get that, LOL. so things are going wonderful for me right now. i'm gonna have a battle on my hands in a few weeks, the girls dad decided he wants them to come back to Florida instead of staying w/ me were they belong and want to be. but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. i have spent sooooo much money getting their room set up for them, and buying clothes (he only sent them w/ 4 outfits each, he's such a butt) but i'm very happy being broke and having them here, i wouldnt trade it for the world....

how have you been doing??? i havent had much time to read up on the posts... i'm gonna add some updated pics to "myspace" hopefully this weekend. i'll let you know when i do.

luv ya,

YES!!! rest! there is a huuuugggee difference between sleep and rest and while you rest your body does soooo many things it cannot do while awake, like regenerating cells. I'm so happy you have your girls with you, you have been looking forward to this for a long time now! Are you and their father in a custody battle? Or do you have a legal custody agreement? That has to be so tough on them. You know, contrary to popular belief, when parents part ways, children bery rarely have any long-term problems with it unless the parents are un civil with eah other. Either way it has to be tough going back and forth and for you as a mother has to be heartbreaking being without your babies (they always will be right?)

I'm doing well especially for this time of year. Hubby and I PARRRRTIIEEED!!! late last night. I'm so tired right now!!! Oh well, it happens. We went to Area last night in hollywood, one of lindsay lohans favorite party spots. She's a sweet girl but makes such a fool of herself getting so damn drunk and beligerent. I know a lot of producers that have worked with her and none have very good things to say. That industry is like that though. Then we had some people over and had a wild time in the jacuzzi. So I should have new myspace pics up soon too!
