Talked to the Doc, finally

I put in a call to my doc on the 31st and explained the situation of stopping the oxy and the symptoms I was experiencing - the complete pain, sleeping all the time, no energy and the lack of care for anything. He was not to happy that I didn't call him first before stopping. I have been on a constant dose for three years. The situation was likened to my history of stopping my meds for bipolar without clearance. He is tapering me off the oxy even though it was 5 or 6 days off of it. I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT OTHERS DO THIS WITHOUT MEDICAL CLEARANCE. I haven't posted for a couple of days because I feel like a failure or should I say weak for not riding out the pain. I'm still experiencing withdrawal symptoms but not so intensly. My tapering off is not a long term process either. I talk to him the end of next week and go from there. There is something about opiates that stimulate the brain and my bipolar doesn't like coming off of them. I hope this year will bring me different medication that will allow me to take anti-inflamitories. Given the situation I'm in right now, I don't know if I would have taken opiates in the first place. I was told I would not become addicted if I took them as prescribed. Hmmm???? I'm just fishing for support because feeling like a failure is lonely.

You are not a failure.. None of us are as long as we keep trying.. I'm glad you called your Dr. when you have other things going on it is wise to do it medically supervised.. My Dr. was not pleased with me either but he was proud.. I'm proud of you that you are being responsible with yourself.. Keep looking forward as your goals are the same.. As the rolling stones put it... If you try you might get what you need :) Congratulations on getting what you need.. lesa
