Vicodin addict?

I've had 3 knee surgeries and each time I've been prescribed vicodin. I love vic and it's like whenever I'm on it I get a high. My family started noticing I was asking for more Vic pretty frequently so they cut me off. Now, I'm having my 4th surgery and I'll be on vic again and the only thing I can seem to think about is I can't wait to be on vicodin again. Does this make me an addict even though I get cut off (usually) ?

I do not think your an addict, however..... The way that you say you can't wait to be back on it.... Its very scary. I've been on percocet(very similar to vic) for 3 years now, I don't abuse them, I take them as directed, but I've become dependent on them. I really suggest using caution, you could become a full blow addict this time, buying them off the street or however you could manage to get them. Please please use caution, and know that, the high feeling you once got, will go away very quickly, I've seen many people that take this drug, because they love the high they get, it will get out of control before you know it, they will change your life, destroy your body, ruin your relationships with the ones you love! I personally classify an addict as some1 who abuses the drug, but even taken as directed, you become dependent them. withdrawals can be extremely horrible, its like having the flu, only ten times worse, with depression, anxiety, and many more things. Take care, and please understand how quickly thing can get out of control!

I'm not sure I can answer the question on you being an addict, but, I can respond to when you say, "I love vic".  I just know, that that's how I kind of started. I was not prescribed any, I got a handful here and a handful there, then, eventually it just crept up and I was then taking them daily. The high eventually goes away and you are stuck with a mess and you end up taking them just to feel normal.

Trust me, the pills are no good for the soul. If you need them for pain for your surgery, take what is prescribed and get rid of the rest. I'm sure others on this forum will agree, you will be happy you did.

If you have the opportunity, read through some others posts on here so that you can see what happens with addiction.  A lot of people have been through hell and back because of pills, you don't want to do that.

Take care & good luck with your surgery!
