Tapering off of tramadol

Has anyone ever had a doctor make a plan for tapering them off of tramadol?  I am going to talk to my doc about it this week as I am very addicted and want to get pregnant.  I'm curious what the plan entailed.  Can it be done without additional drugs to take the edge off?  How long does it take?  Someone wrote that it is dangerous to quick cold-turkey and I appreciate that advice because I don't want to hurt myself.  I will do it under the supervision of my doctor and with the help of my husband but I'm curious what other folks have done and what your doctors have had you do.  Please share.  I'm getting anxious about this and need some reassurance that I'm not going to loose my mind.
Thank you!

I am trying to start a taper myself.  I haven't headed to my Dr's because I am afraid of her cutting me off cold turkey.  I will be curious to see what your Dr has to say.

Good luck - let me know  how it goes at the Dr's

If you have made it completely off tramadol, I would stay well clear.  Tram can be more complicated to withdraw from because it also messes with your serotonin production.  Increasing the hydro is obviously not great but when you get the tram withdrawals completely out of your system, you may find you feel strong enough to taper off the hydros.  Are you having any physical withdrawals or is it a head thing?

Best wishes.

I been taking both tramadol and hydrocodone, looking at these forums is scary. Have not taken tramadol for days, but been taking the hydrocodone. Now more and more Hydrocodone. Thought mabey going back to tramadol and leaving the hydros. Now i'm not sure which way to go. I badly want off both. Anyone have any suggestions?

Apparently Tramadol is very nasty to come off. I personally have no experience but if you search on this site 'Tramadol' you'll meet lots of people going through it and I'm sure they'll be able to advise and support you.
Good luck! :o)
