Thanx for the support guys. (and Gals)
Try shaking the one thats doing the shaking LOL JUST KIDDING OK, these trigers are very hard to put away but you can and will just keep doing what you are doing.
Pavlov effect... lol That's too funny. I think it's safe to say that is normal in the beginning. There are a lot of things that trigger people in the very beginning and throughout recovery, which is absolutely one of the hardest parts. But learning to cope with these triggers in a healthy manner without using will make you stronger in the long run. When you're in a situation where something has triggered you, try and busy yourself, your mind. Walk it off, breathing exercises, music to distract the mind, talking about it with someone, or even hitting the gym are really great healthy ways to deal. I've found that closing my eyes, taking a deep breath and refocusing on what my objective is can be helpful if you are unable to do any of the other things. As silly as it sounds, repitition of your goal can be helpful! An I want to be clean, or I am clean or whatever type of mantra. The human brain also recognizes goals better if they are written down, so keeping a note in your pocket about recovery could be helpful too. Sorry, I know it's alot of info but I hope some of it helps! GL
I had actually forgotten all about that one! Dont have any real advice except to put it behind you in any manner that you can. I was under a general anesthetic when my wife got a bottle of tylenol out and shook them - she has a habit of doing that for some reason - - I came out of the anesthesia quite a bit earlier than anyone expected. We can even laugh about it now - - and she still does it with her meds in the morning......its no longer a "cue" for me - - but I do know what you mean. Sure are a lot of ways to think that you need a pill or two!
