Day 2

Today is complete day 2 with no pills. I'm in so much pain from my pelvic disorder and my back is breaking. I have had 4 hours sleep since Sunday night. I'm exhausted. Nothing helps me sleep. What can I do?

So sorry about your pelvic pain...i totally know how hard it is to deal with every single day. When you see the pain doc, listen to what they have to say, and then tell them you would REALLY prefer some type of injection or something and not pills.

Have you ever considered or tried accupuncture? I am thinking about giving it a try for all of my pain. I researched and found an office who does it for pain, including endometriosis, back problems, and some other things. Id really like to try it for my Endo/Pelvic Congestion, and scoliosis.

Hang in there! And i hope your pain starts getting better and you can get some sleep tonight.

You know that is a good question . . . For me personally when I was taking the pills I did have some problems with constipation.  Once I was off them for a couple of days however, I started having the opposite problem!  I was on my 5th day clean when I saw my doc & he suggested the magnesium (and I think I did try it starting that night).  So, I guess it is one of those "personal" things; will work better for some than others.  And I'm thinking too that as each day goes by and the pills are out of your system that the mix would be less likely to cause problems(?).  But ya, I agree, RLS + constipation + w/d in general = Not good for anyone :))

Just wondering if the potassium and banana can interfere with the constipation problem that comes with the opiate addiction? Maybe just eating the banana would be best until the opiates are out of the system since magnesium is found in bananas anyway. RLS is bad enough without being constipated at the same time.

Hey day 2 is fantastic..great job. Just be honest with the Doc if you go Friday. Living with pain is tough, I know. But day six for me....the body can heal some by it's self,I am told by others on here. I am praying for this to be the case. Hang in there!

I have pelvic floor disfunction and endometrosis and sciatica. Ive tried everything Otc. I took 20mg of melatonion last night and nothing.  I'm so tired and hurt. I have a pain Dr appointment Friday morning. My first one. I'm hoping for injections not pills.  Its a vicious cycle. I need relief though.

Congrats on 2 days! I am on day 2 as well. What kind of pelvic disorder do you have? I have bad Endometriosis, Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, and very frequent ovarian cysts that rupture. It is so painful without the pills, but i am right there with you...you can get through this!

I have tried numerous otc sleep aids such as Unisom, and i find they make everything worse...but that may just be me. Melatonin is the only otc sleep med ive found that works.

Hang in there!

No RLS. I'm just tossing and turning. Cramping and back killing me. I'm so tired I'm nauseous. I was up all night again and have to be at work in 45 minutes. I work in the front office and I'm around people all day and I'm miserable.

Hi and welcome . . .congrats on 2 days clean!  I'm sorry you are feeling so bad; and not being able to sleep makes everything seem/feel worse.  I think all of the above are great suggestions.  I just wanted to second the banana idea - I still eat at least one or 2 every day (1 before bed).  Another thing you may want to try is magnesium; my doctor suggested 1000mg before bed (in early w/d).  It really seemed to help with sleep and with the RLS as well.  Hope you start feeling better soon.

Great suggestions.  And try a hot shower or bath, use the epsom salts, they help a ton.  Try to stay hydrated and create as relaxing an environment in the bedroom as possible.  Clean sheets, dim lighting, low TV, although, TV and movies saved me those many sleepless nights.  And I found melatonin by itself also helped.  But I'm sure the Alteril is better given the given the combo it contains (melatonin, valerian and l-tryptophan).

And if you are suffering from the RLS, plain old bananas worked great for me.  I'd have one before bedtime and it really did help.

Try an OTC for sleep. I recommend Alteril. It's all natural...

Are you trying Motrin for pain?  Take it on a schedule so you build up blood levels. It should take the edge off.

Do you have RLS?
