As long as you both understand that yes, Suboxone can definately help to the road to recovery, but you need a plan set right away on tapering the Suboxone and getting to nothing. First thing you want to do is get down to the smallest amount of Suboxone possible. Most doctors prescribe 16mg for some reason. You really won't need that much, but if you take that much the first day, only do that for a couple days and try to get to 8mg right away. I think a good low number to get to as soon as possible is 2mg. For some reason it seems pretty good to be at 2mg for just about anyone who has taken Suboxone. Then from there you just shave a little piece off little by little til you're down to nothing. Then yes, you may experience withdrawls from this, but if you stick to a plan, it won't be near as bad as the withdrawl you would of experienced before. Honestly, there isn't a reason that you can't be down to 2mg within 2 weeks and to plan a taper to nothing within the first month. I think that would be a good goal. Good luck to both of you and congrats for finally quitting the bad stuff.
