Hi
I read something recently that kind of made me curious. So I heard that some doctors are using opiates w a shorter half life (ie morphine, etc..) to ween ppl off of methadone. Then once they are off, they start the taper off of that opiate. Has anyone heard of something like this? I know that methadone and even suboxone can be so very hard to get off bc of the half-life, how long it stays in your system. Trust me I know that ALL opiates are hard to stop but apparently the methadone wd's last a lot longer? Don't worry, this is not something I'm actually considering! Even if this was possible I would never do it bc I'm not naive, I know that if I take anything that gives me a feeling of euphoria I will chase that indefinitely. That's why I did very well on methadone, I never really felt "high" so to speak.
I still have a headache, but it's not as intense as it was, which is great news. They were so bad I was actually considering stopping my taper and staying where I'm at for a while. Hopefully I won't have to do that now. Mornings are rough. Everything I do feels like I'm climbing Mt. Everest, even taking a shower is hard! I haven't washed my hair in a couple days bc it hurts to hold my arms up long enough to wash & condition it ( I know, TMI!) I just enrolled to my local gym. I'm hoping if I can force myself to go it will help with the energy levels, so I've heard anyways.
Thank you to everyone here for being so supportive. This site is amazing! I feel so much better venting to ppl who get it.
