Help....I'm a nervous wreck tonight.

So, I'm about, 500+ days clean now, and tomorrow I have to have an injection into my spine.  I have had pain for a while, but I didn't really want to know what it was, because I didn't want to visit a doctor and get pills and so on and so on.....addict, ya know?  This is an epidural steroid injection, but they do sedate me a little bit I believe.  That scares this addict to DEATH.  A huge needle in my spine doesn't really sound any better, but I don't want pills and this is an alternative to that and could help the pain.  I have a compression fracture in my lumbar vertebrae and a bulging disc a little below that.  SOOOOOOOOOOO...........if you guys could send me positive vibes/prayers tomorrow around lunch time I would be forever in your debt!!!  I am truly scared to death, and not too much scares me after some of the stuff I've been through!  It's the most afraid I've been in, well, 500 or so days!!!!! LOL

You guys continue to impress and amaze me every single day.  Proud of ALL of you!!!!!!!! : )

Hey guys!  Thanks for the prayers and happy thoughts. I made it home. It hurt but the two hour ride home was worse!  Lol I'm fine. Was awake the whole time though. I'm hurting right now, but no pain meds!  I'll live through it.

HI I agree with sara I have had literally dozens of them done they use novacane first so you dont feel a thing if you do feel anything let them know and they can add more novacane this shouldent hapen only hapened a few times to me you usually have to get 3 a week apart from one another and dont be suprizes if you feel like your speeding for a few days after the drug depamedraral worked good for me but it was pure speed for 3 to 4 days after the shot
just take it ez after you get it it will be a bit tender for a day or 2 so dont over do it no bending

I have had that done and it is over before you know it and you dont remember a thing.  It really does help.  Now go take your bath, get in your bajammies and snooze away!!

I'll be fine....go to bed silly!!!!!!!  Oh, on the small needle thing.  That's like saying to a woman, when nine months pregnant and miserable and swollen, "It'll ALL be worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  LOLOLOL It's NOT SMALL....It's ENORMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I've read WAY too much tonight on the internet.  Why do we do that?

Really, it's a small needle and they'll put a dab of local anesthetic at the injection site but you won't care one bit because you'll be sedated.
Are you going to drink coke and be up all night?  Go take a hot bath,please???

The shot will help , in turn u will not need pain meds. Ibuprofen after is fine. Don't stress. Before you know it, it will be over... Prayers are with you.

All the best for you tomorrow.  I think things will go well.  I was in the same position last summer and talked with my doctor before hand because I really did not want it, nor did I think I needed it.  I had taken Prednisone a week or wo before and it was finally working, so I did not need the injection.  I have the same problem you do, only in my neck.  You will do fine.  Sending my positive energy your way.  Take care.

Oh for Pete's Sake girl!  You're right! You've been through worse things...

So,listen...they'll probably give you Versed via IV. No problem. you won't like it AT ALL!
You'll get drowsy but tell them they get ONE shot at it;if they can't get it, then forget it!
I hate that you need to go through this but let's talk about how your back got into this situation. HMMM?  And who the heck told you the needle is HUGE?

Do this: Have your phone on in there and I'll sing to you during the procedure. I'll even wash my hands first!  I'll also send a prayer up for you...what else? Name it!

I'm not only going to send good vibes tomorrow at lunch time - I'm sending them NOW.  You deserve to feel good trama - and the shot will help.  I know it makes you nervous - if this helps any, I had to have a spinal tap years ago (yes scary) and I got through that fine.  The sedative will begin to wear off before you head home and in the next few days you're going to feel better.

I am SO proud of you - 500 + days - you have been an inspiration to me right from the start.  And I KNOW you're going to be okay.  No doubt in my mind whatsoever about that.  Now I'm going to start sending those good vibes - all you have to do is reach out and grab 'em!
