Trying to quit H - Is seeing a doctor a good idea

Hey all, started off on occasional Oxycontin, turned into daily heroin use. (snorting only, and i dont even know the dose.)

I've quit cold turkey 3 times, and this last time is the only time I haven't gone back to daily use. (I've used once or twice a week for almost a month.) I have a couple questions and unfortunately have no friends or family to talk to about it.

Would going to a doctor be a good idea or does the average general practicioner want to have nothing to do with addicts? I'd love to get something for my leg pains. Also maybe something to help with sleep or an antidepressant because I feel like ****.

I really don't have a good understanding of addiction in general. For example, I realize people can and do use junk recreationally w/o addiction. Am I beyond that, as in will I always go through withdrawl even from sporadic use? I know it's a touchy subject and expect everyone's answer to be that recreational use is impossible. I live in DC where I don't believe treatments with bupopherine or whatever is legal. I tried going to a methadone clinic as well but was told I couldnt simply get medicine I'd have to stay in clinic for a month. Bullshit - how does one keep a job? Anyway, back to my question, should I go see a doctor?

i have a question for you, by herion, i assume its from the street right (some refer to snorting an oxy as heroin) i went to G.P. for pain pill addiction, but keep in mind they were rx to me, so he's been helpful

going to a regular DR. w/ a street addiction wont do you much good. most dr's turn and run even at the hint of am addict (including thier own patients which they rx the pills to begin with) and suboxone can only be presribed by a dr who's certified to write the rx. the law was recently changed from 30 patients to 100 patients.

do you experinece w/d when your not using?

go to www.NAABT.org for info on getting suboxone treatment in your area.

let me know how it goes, i'm always hear to help the best i can
