Vicodin Withdrawal

I just found this forum. I'm 34 days sober from Vics. I was taking 30-35 750mg per day. I did Suboxene for 20 days and haven't had any since Dec 24th. My problem is that I still "think" i'm feeling withdrawals. I have no energy, constantly yawning, and just all around not feeling well. How long does actual withdrawal symtoms last and is this all in my mind now/

I quit 2 1 year ago with Suboxone and the W/D's of that went on for 2-3 weeks. I quit C/T the percs and W/D was only 4-5 days. The suboxone is very bad, much worse then the pain meds. TRUST ME.

I am 14 days clean and feeling stronger after reading all of you guys post.

I have been on Vicodin 750's on and off (mostly on ) for the past 3 years.....this was due to abdominal surgery.  I finally became free of them for 5 mos. when I found out I needed a hernia repair and there was the Dr. writing out a prescription for 100....and I obviously couldn't say no.  Those 5 mos. free felt so good - and now I have been without them for only 1 day and I feel so afraid to face tomorrow without a pill.  I was taking about 6 to 9 pills per day.  I even stooped so low as to seek out other physicians - feigning illnesses to get the pills.......I'm sitting at work and crying right now - trying to figure out how to face tomorrow.

I have to stay away from them completely to stay clean. There is no in between stage for me. Even if I have to have some pain killers for a particular incident it will only escalate from there. It wont stop at the end of the script. I just have to say... I cant take pain meds and leave it at that.

Well, you would think that after dropping from only 3 a day, and down to one whole pill a day, I'd be okay if I just stopped altogether, but I know from my past experience that it doesn't work.. I'm going to have to wean little by little.. lol.. Oh my- I wish there was something I could do to put a stop to addictive meds altogether! ya know?? But, of course, that may never happen- we just have to warn everyone, but our word means little unless they've experienced what we've experienced! lol
I see alot of people on here asking about Tramadol/Ultram for pain and I give them my experiences and let them take it from there- alot of people have actually changed their minds about it! I think it's because there's so many of us now, that have been affected by the anguishment just to get OFF the dumb things!
Anyway, thanks for your support, guys..not sure I'd know what to do without you!

Hey I went from 5-6 10mg down to 5-6 5mg per day and I really believe that is why I am not feeling total d/ts now... I d/t instantly when I dropped down my dose. Once I went off... 3 days ago... I feel better than I did dropping my dose. I also am using the Thomas Recipe to some degree, it works. The hot sits in the tub do make the muscle relax. Good luck you are doing great!!!

ah man.. thank you soo much!
I'm just not really looking forward to the final day when I'm completely OFF of the pills.. although it's not much that I'm taking now, but my body is so small and it doesn't take much for meds to get through.. :D
I figure it this way- 1/2 this morning, 1 whole pill tonight, then I'll start a half tomorrow morning, and a half tomorrow night, at least for a few more days, or longer- depending on how many days I withdraw from just THAT, then I'll go off altogether..
I swear, I don't know what the heck I'd do without you guys and this forum! So much info, advice, help, it's unreal! You guys are simply the best EVER! lol
I'll keep ya guys posted..

I know exactly what ya mean about the divorce thing! I divorced the kids' father back in 2003 because his drug addiction (excessive use caused us to lose our house and everything). So, here I am.. I mean, although I didn't abuse the tramadol, I still got addicted and dependent, and NOW I know what HE went through.. He used to pop 30-40 vics a day, plus pain patches and everything else. Got so bad that he moved to even HIGHER drugs, and it ended him up in jail so many times, but only This time he's in a 'rehabilitation center', kinda' like jail, for 6 months. Didn't get to see the kids for Christmas, and he doesn't get out until June. But, it's actually good for him because this will reflect his future- he'll be CLEAN! they've got so many NA programs there it's unbelievable! If you could only see the letters he writes me! I almost cry everytime because he's going through so much pain, not being able to see his kids.
Anyway, you've definitely come a very long way, girl! I'm so proud of you! Now, it's MY turn.. LOL.. oh my, oh my! Considering I have to WD around the kids and go to work like that, I don't know how I'm going to deal with it, but I do know this- I'll NEVER touch another pain med, even if I'm hurting like hell. I don't care- because I know where it can take me- under the complete control of a substance that our bodies don't need!
Keep me updated, Jules! Love ya!

listen, the emotions from divorce are exhausting in and of themself.. trust me.  soon, you'll turn a corner..

same with the vik's.  like someone mentioned above, load up on amino acids and vitamins.. it helps ALOT.  it really really does..

you're going thru ALOT, so don't worry.. i mean, don't panic.  feeling exhausted is normal, as sh***y as it feels.. but it will change.

just be kind to yourself right now.  sounds like you are making alot of positive changes, and soon you'll have more energy than you know what to do with.  try to just go with the flow as best you can.. it WILL change...

warmly,
mj

I am helping my cousins ex-wife go through her aftermath of the divorce.. He put her through hell, and always pit us against eachother. After I tried to help him he stole all my pain meds and our money and then left the same day!

Thanks everyone for your support and kind words!! This is actually my second attempt at becoming sober. I went 9 months the first time. I went to detox for 6 days and just being there made me never want to touch another vicodin. Then I had a tooth ache in September 07 and the 1st thing the Dentist prescribed was 12 Vic's. That's all it took to get hooked again. I'm proud of myself and know that if I can do this YOU ALL can do this. TRUST ME!!! ( i'm also going through a divorce and have 2 kids)

I am on day 38 and still feel tired. Others have said the same thing. Exercise helps some. We messed up our bodies and it takes time for the body to re-regulate everything.
Congratulations on day 34! That was a very hefty dose you were on. I am glad that you tested your liver function and it was good. You are lucky. You were taking at least 4 1/2 times the maximum dosage of Tylenol.(based on only 500mg/pill) Anyway so glad you are doing well. Oh and some are 60-90 days and still have off energy days.
Are you taking vitamins and supplements? Amino acids help too, like L-Tyrosine. I think that these all are important to help our body rebuild itself. Take care of yourself.

Hey girl.. hang in there, you should be turning the corner any day now! Are you on any type of other meds? (such as antidepressants or anything) Because other meds could trigger yawning as well. If NOT, than it's more than likely the amount of Vics you took- you're a small girl, just like me. I've only taken 3 tramadol per day for 2 years, and just tapering down makes me withdrawal like crazy! I'm every bit of 99 lbs and 5'2 3/4" and even those three little pills a day were still too much for me. So, it'll take just a little longer for me to be totally FREE of the drug. (and the same with you) Just imagine though, this is only a couple of weeks or so out of your entire lifetime! :D.. You've been doing awesome already, and have come a very long way! Keep it up! You should see yourself feeling normal any day now!

One thing that really helped me get my energy back was exercise. I would go on a long walk or jog and after a few days I felt much better. They always preach about a good diet and exercise for a reason. It really does help. I know it can be hard to without having much energy but it really will help with the energy levels. Best of luck and great job on making it!!!!!

I think it's definitely my diet. I've lost 9 pounds since stopping. I have no appetite but I know that I must force myself to eat. And YES about the periods, i know that's part of my problem also. Thanks so much for your response, it helps a lot!!!

i'm clean off vics for 5 weeks now and feel great!
have you tried to change your diet at all? I did. I eat alot of proteins, fresh fruit, fresh vegs, and take amino acids that help heal our brain funtions, and also b-vitamins, and iron.
i'm anemic all the time if i don't take iron because of real bad periods every month. anemia will make you feel super tired.

I actually never OD'd on Vics. I never even read into the lethal amount of tylenol in them, and never had an abnormal liver blood test. On the day I stopped taking vics my liver function level was right at normal. I'm a 33 year old female and am also really small. I don't know if that helped me or not. Also I haven't taken any Suboxone since December 24th. So I've been without anything for 14 days. I just want to feel normal again. I hate constantly yawning, its irritating.

The key word is "think" I am only on day 3 from 100mg a day.. I have been wanting off of these for sometime now after a 2 yr. stretch... I believe this "addiction" is a mind over matter issue....go outside, or write a goal sheet down for each day...REMEMBER what you used to like before you got addicted....follow a routine...change your ways of thinking~ open your eyes to a better you. YOUR IN CONTROL NOW. Be stubburn like I am and tell yourself that your better than a tiny pill.

Wow 34 days sober!! THAT IS GREAT!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

As for the suboxone and why you are not feelign well and still yawning like when in w/d and no energy.. I think maybe it might be the dose you are on of the sub.. Since I am also going to get on the sub treatment for my addiction 500-600mg od oxycodone per day! Then I have been talking to ALOT OF PEOPLE ON IT!

They have had similar feeling until they got there dosage amount to the right mg per day.. I hope that helps..

Can I ask a personal Question?  I was wondering if you every OD on the EXTREME amount of tylenol you were ingesting that came along with the 750 vicodin?  I also have taken alot of those(due to just being able to get them, and nothing else stronger)  So I would pop like 4-5 at a time every 2-3 hours until the day ended, and then start right back up in the morning.. I dont think I ever took as many as you stated you did for the simple fact that I read taking around 20,000mg of acetaphetimin IS A LETHAL DOSE!!  I was afraid of the OD of the tylenol not the narcotic-- Let me know please if you can
