I know your probably going thru hell right now but just know your post helped another person finally get up the courage to quit right along with you. I have been prescribed these horrible pills for chronic nerve damage caused by a failed back surgery. I have been taking these for 4 years now and have only gone 1 day without them during the summer when my refill snuck up on me and my doctor was out of town. No other doctor would even consider helping me cause I seemed like an addict doctor shopping. That one day was honestly the worse day of my life. I ended up in the emergency room begging them to give me something, they finally agreed to give me 1x 20mg pill to get me thru until morning when I could get in to seem my regular doctor. I did find that walking helped with the leg cramps and restlessness. Keep busy cause staring at the clock is torture and every second seems like an hour. Ignore your craziness, I was honestly contemplating committing a break in at our local pharmacy even though I'm normally a law abiding citizen. I'm no expert after only one day but these are just a few things that helped. I'm now ready to try to quit again so let's hang in there together
Well that differs from person to person. What I can tell you is that everyday after the first 3-5 days it'll get better and better. Are you trying to exercise at all? I can honestly tell you that has helped me the most this time(and hopefully the last) and it's not easy at first, I know! I'm 12 days in and am exercising more and more each day! Keep up the good work! Keep posting! You can do this!
does anybody know how long roughly it takes to start feeling normal again?
That's a tough question because to me when I stopped time went extra extra slow. The first week was the longest week of my life. Whatever you enjoy doing while you're being lazy around the house I would suggest you do. I know you're not going to feel up to doing some things. Just relax as much as possible, try reading, watching tv, listening to music, taking long hot baths. Best of luck to you. Keep posting and stand firm. You can do this!!
although i really want to quit and have my life back, i know one thing that really triggers my craving to use which is boredom. are there any suggestions that will help time go by?
thank you guys for all the help. I had some pills left from last night so i took them today and just finished them off. it was 80mg of oxy and now i begin my journey tomorrow cold turkey. i have deleted all my connections and cut off all my sources, please pray for me and wish me the best as i prepare to go to war!
Firstly congratulations for having the courage to make probably the bravest and best decision of your life. I made the same decision 40 days ago after 12 years of this madness. During that time I tried rehabs, 2 years on suboxone etc etc but it took almost losing my wife and girls after selling everything to fund my habit to make me see sense. I am not going to sugar coat this for you , it was extremely hard going cold turkey. I was lucky I had the support of my family who made sure I had no supply etc. I tried to get nourishing , healthy food down me, lots of water and good multivits. Also trying to get out even if you only have the energy for ten mins starts to stimulate endorphins. When things get hard just hold on and soon they will start to get better I promise you. 40 days later and I am coming alive again , my emotions , energy and laughter are returning, I also told my doctor the truth and am finally getting the correct help to address the reasons for my addictions. Life is good again and you will have all that if you stay strong, you have the love and support of everyone that is on here and there is always someone if you need to talk. So I wish you love and strength YOU CAN DO IT god bless
Keith summed it up pretty well for you! Look into the Thomas recipe to help with the actual wds! Immodium for tummy problems! Eat healthy when you can and drink a lot of light fluids ie water or Gatorade! It's gonna be hard but try to exercise when you can! I know you're gonna feel like not moving, but that always just contributed to my lack of energy! Short walks in the sun and work your way longer everytime! You can do this! Keep us posted! Take your life back!
Welcome and congatulations on taking the first steps to a new life.Every bodys withdrawal is different, mine lasted a good two weeks.I weened down to 80 mgs of oxy and the jumped. This is how i have stayed clean the last 21 days, got rid of my connections which meant losing some friends but needed to be done. Next i told everybody that was close to me this one is very important because we as addicts have to stay accountable to our loved ones.Last is aftercare n/a meetings, some kind of group support.Look i dont have alot of awnsers but this has worked for me so far.
