I definitely know now I was taking too much! I think under certain situations it would be a tool. But as we all know too well it doesn't take much to grab hold of another substance. It never made me feel high like pills but it obvious was enough to grab hold of me.
EvolverU, do you recall their wd symptoms and length of time they lasted? I do feel so much better but likeive said previously these symptoms seem to be dragging on.
Thanks for the post. It's good to know how you were affected, and better to know you're getting off it. My best to your family. NH
i actually think it is good you are posting about this. I know for me, after being off vicodin for several months, i went through a period where i was ordering different supplements I found on Amazon. I didn't admit it to myself at the time, but i think what i was really doing was looking for something else to get high from. I did try kratom but it was very negative for me the first time i tried it, so i didn't continue with it. However, I got hooked on another 'natural' supplement and found myself with a whole new addiction. We need to be careful. Just because something is legal and marketed as being natural, doesn't mean it is safe and wont cause withdrawal. I am glad you are feeling better.
Hey! I used Kratom for withdrawal from Methadone. I did the research and knew to keep it at a very low dose for a short period. The research that has been done on Kratom is basically Indonesian and not extensive, at that.
I think what might have happened, here is in the 'high' dose part. Kratom is suspected to be toxic to certain organs (including the liver) with sustained use at heavy dosages. I personally, never really experienced any 'opiate' high off of it, which was perfect. It simply mitigated the w/d's while I put some time between the 'done and me. That said, I used a - 'Threshold' dose and stayed away from concentrates/extracts, etc. There's a lot of misinformation on the web re: Kratom.
I also noticed that tolerance built within a week! So, beware everyone. I dropped it within a month. The w'd's were mild compared to what I was already/still am going through. I have, however, read of terrible habits on other forums and have walked 2 people on this forum off the drug.
I would add that there's no way of knowing what is sprayed as a pesticide, herbicide, fungicide on it or if it's contaminated with other 'drugs'. There have been reports of this in recent years.
Thanks. When I get better I want to write a more detailed journey with kratom. I'm day 5+ and feeling mentally a whole lot better!
Very glad you posted this Pjtwenty, it may help someone quite a bit.
Other things to note about Kratom - it's unregulated. So you don't really know the potency of each given batch you get. Also, the Kratom that people are getting addicted to is a concentrated dose. So anyone thinking "it's a natural plant product" should be aware that concentrates don't occur in nature. Finally, it's a fairly new phenomenon here in the West. So if you do get addicted to it, there won't be much in way of formal support and understanding if/when you want to get off.
The subject of Kratom comes up here quite frequently...usually people looking to find something to help with w/ds. We always advise people that it's not a good idea, and that they can end up addicted to that.
Unfortunately, despite the info out there, people will still choose to go down that road. It's good to create awareness...but in the end, people won't always heed the warnings sadly.
Jimmy you are so right! The ugly truth of all evil, it leads you speedily down to Hell.
As far as the original post, keep talking about Kratom or anything else for that matter. I was recently given a script for Tramadol. Doc looked right at me, No it's not narcotic. It's not addictive. Hmm, really?! I came on here, posted my question, and got real information from experienced addicts. I was going to burn the script but I actually am going to return it when I go next time. I defaced it with a black marker so it can't be filled.
I am in here a bunch. I need you. We all do.
That's the nature of the beast is it not ! There is always the Devil to pay at the end of the trail with any substance . Oh yes you feel great for a longtime !! But when the worm turns its pure Hell . My mother told me something one time that I never forgot . Those who dance have to pay the fiddler . Oh is that so true . The anxiety Hell will fade away I promise . Stay strong . Jimmy
I don't think that you posting is an annoyance, and like you said... If you even helped one person to not place that order, then it's a positive.
I hope that your wd goes by a little quicker for you. Feel better soon :)
