Wanting to share some positivity

Since I've been complaining so much on here about symptoms, WD, worries, etc. I think it's time to share what an awesome weekend I had.  My boyfriend, daughter, and some of his friends went to the mountains for the weekend.  All the adults on the trip are in recovery and there were 2 girls to play with my daughter.  There was no cell service or wifi; we were totally off the grid and it felt pretty good.  Yesterday we went on a 5 mile hike (1/2 uphill) and then went on an hour horseback ride on trails through the mountains.  We played games, shared huge meals, and had so much fun.
I was so happy and was actually able to enjoy my daughter as well as everyone else. I truly felt joy.  I'm also feeling pretty sore today from all the activity, but everyone is right- exercise really does feel great and does wonders for our minds.
It felt so good to be there and not have to worry about how many pills to bring, when I needed to take them etc.
I am so grateful for the experience and that I'm feeling stronger each day.  My guard is still up though!!

Sounds like a perfect weekend. Good for you!
You're right - we get so caught up in our pain, cravings, etc. that we forget to look at the good we have.
I think I've heard AA people talk about the importance of having "an attitude of gratitude." So true.
Thank you for sharing!

So happy to sit reading this thread, spreading the joy of being clean and happy, this is what it's all about for me! So glad you got out and had fun, now you have your first great memory after detox, run with it my friend! There is so much more to life than drugs, we only have to allow it in! Great post, keep it up and way to go!

Exercise is key, I've been training again the last two days, you wouldn't believe what happened, my mood lifted, ha!

Thanks to you for all the support.  There has been so much gloom and doom that I think we need to share the good stuff too.  If we don't share the good, we won't know that things get better.
I'm an avid runner as well; up until my detox anyway,  and I'm hoping to get back to it soon.  I miss it so much, but haven't had the energy.  Now I know I can do it; I just have to get out there!

This is a great post !!!!  Thanks Kmom   ;))))
It seems there has been so much gloom and doom lately and we all nee to be reminded that we can be happy and have happy times .  Yes !!  exercise is great for our minds and also healthy food but mostly it's all about the exercise. I run 3-5 miles (mostly 3 ;)  )  every single day and the ONLY reason I do it is for my mental state regarding depression and addiction. It helps so much more than anything I do .  So glad you had a great weekend friend. Life is good  ;))))

Thanks to you both, you are a huge part of me being able to do this.  Weaver, it is actually what it's all about!!  Living life!  I'm sure there will be some rough days as well, but think we  have to celebrate the good days and be truly grateful for them.

That is what it's all about, love to hear this. You enjoy your family and vacation for REAL. There is nothing better than that, not to me. You make me want to get away. I live in mountain vacation land, so we are thinking of a trip to the city. Climbing stairs up buildings and riding the subway or fairy and visiting UCBerkley may be in order. Keep it up my friend, you wear it well.
