my update!!!!!!!!!You guys will be proud

OK guys I know I havent been on in a while, but life has been crazy.Let me tell you guys a lil backgroung info for those who dont know.I have a norco of about 14 a day.I was also taking somas which I am totally off of now.I am taking these meds for a chronic pain condition that I have allthough I am taking wayyyyy more than I am supposed to.I am prescribed 8 norco a day.A few weeks back after being on here and getting so much support I decided I didnt want to take the meds anymore at all so I quit c/t.I made it for 73 houurs I think and then blew it bigtime. The pain was just to unbearable. Then I actually got smart about it and told the dr what I was doing. He was kinda pissed because I let myself do this.I am only 24 and I have a long time to deal with this diesese. He thought I had a better handle on it then I really did.I have had this condiction for 8 months now and thats how long he has been prescribing me the meds.He didnt know I was addicated for over a year before I started seeing him.He told me that he does not think it will be in my best intrest to stop taking the meds all together because I have a very painful condition. We have set a goal to get me to a safe level and still be able to have pain relief. 8 per day, though I would rather 6.I am on clonidine to help with the tapering process.I am also letting my hubby hold my meds.I am going to 4 na meetings a week.(thanks to beach)I am also in what they call a pain mgmt group.I go 3 times a week for 8 hours a day.4 hours are physical therepy,to help deal with the pain. The other 4 hours are group and alone counsouling.I have been 5 times now and I REALLY like it.I am no longer taking soma,I am taking baclofen. They seem to help alot.Iust wanted to drop by and say HI!!!!I havent forgotten about you all I am just trying to focus on my recovery.I am making huge steps.!!!!!I am down to 12 a day now.Again thank you all for being so supportive during the rough part. You guys were my rock and really gave me the courage to do this all!!! I dont have my group today so I will be on for a while untill my babies wake up.

I am so glad you've found an option that will work for you. Many people on here do not understand that people do need these meds for legit pain reasons. Don't let the doc talk you into taking more than you believe you need, however. If you can get down to 6, be comfortable, and are ablte to use that number..then shoot for it. You may find that lower amounts have better effects. God bless...you're in my prayers..

Hi Jennifer--it is good to see you. I hadn't seen you around in a while and was concerned about you.

I am so happy to see that you got honest with your doctor and you are on the right track. Also, that you are going to counseling, an especially that you are going to meetings!! Way to go!!

You are a good person to deserve to live a drug free life. I am so proud of you!!!

Take care of yourself.
