Using other prescribed medications?

So, i was reading in the expert forum a reply to a question and the dr. said that opiate abusers should refrain from using any psychotropic meds in early recovery, even benadryl ( which i have been using to help me sleep), so my question is, i talke Lyrica twice daily, prescribed, and of course the benadryl, should i stop both? I don't understand and now i feel confused. I thought i was doing so well, i am on day 7 clean, taking care of business, exercising as much as i can, so what do you guys think i should do? Thanks----------------Jacky

I would not stop the Lyrica and pace yourself with the benadryl.I used Nyquil without the decongestant for a few nights in the beginning to help me sleep.
There is always the possibilty of the benadryl being habitforming not truly addicting.
As long as you do not become dependant on the benadryl for sleep all the time I don't think there is no harm using it a few nights.
I think you are doing a great job and perhaps you could try no benadryl on weekends and may surprise yourself and sleep OK.

Sometimes it is easier to stop everything cold turkey. At least it was from me. The w/d will suck but know that it won't last too long...hang in there.
