Herbal treatment for Alcoholism??

My father is an acoholic and has been for many years.  We have tried numerous treatment programs offered by the VA (his only form of insurance).  None of these programs seem to work in the past.  He states he is ready to stop and get his life back, however cost has been a problem.  Are there any herbal treatments or over the counter medications that can help with the shaking, trembling and nausea in order for us to get through the detox process????  At this point, I am open to any suggestions or comments that may help us through this process.

Ever heard of Neu-Becalm'd and Neu-Recover? they are great herbal substances, that rebuild neurotransmitters that are depleted by alcohol as well as several other drugs. The combination of the two is the best, and fastest way to recover and decrease side effects of withdraw.

Some people on here have used alcohol in the past, but you'll find that most of us here used benzos or opiates as our DOC. My heat goes out to you and your father. I agree with FLaddict..this is not something to be done at home. Maybe someone will chime in here with some help...

Alcohol detox is not recommended to do without medical supervison. There is a high risk of seizures and even death.  I would talk to his doctor first before attempting to detox at home.
