Weaning off Ultram

Is there anyone out there that went through a fairly smooth withdrawal?  I am a bit freaked out by all of this stuff I read.  I need to wean off right away.  I am on my last script.  What is the best way to wean down?  Also I heard that suboxone helps with the withdrawals, Does anyone have any information on which drugs help?  Please let me know, I am scared to death from everything I've heard.

Sorry about double post - my computer had a spaz attack.

Also wanted to say a cold turkey detox from tramadol should only be done under a doctors advise (due to risk of seizure).

Good luck with whatever way you decide to go with this.

I did a cold turkey withdrawl from 20 + tramadol (ultram) - I have an addictive personality so tapering did not work for me - I was always finding a lame excuse to slip a couple of extra.

I had to support of my family docoor - to ensure I didn't have a seizure she prescribed 2 weeks worth of valium (giving the script to my Mom to distribute to me!) and epilim (anti-seizure med).

I wont lie to you ...... it was tough. But at the end of the day - after 7 days of being very sick with withdrawl it was pretty much over - I believe you can put up with most things if its only for 7 days. I have mixed feelings about a tapering because it could just prolong the whole thing and w/d symptoms- BUT I suppose if its done well (and you're strong enough to actually stick to the taper schedule and not slip extra) it could be pretty painless.

Sorry for the mistake.  I thought it said ask a doctor, thats what I was trying to do.
Do you think the tapering reduces and symptoms of wd or makes it any easier?  I am waiting for approval from my insurance co so that I can go to the pain management clinic.  I hope they can help with this. I did write out a taper plan for the next month.  I hope it helps instead of going cold turkey.    What do you think?  What about suboxone?  does taking it help in anyway?

thanks

It very dangerous for you to be taking cymbalta on tram it can cause seizures and serotonin syndrome  which can be fatal... I would strongly talk to you doctor about mixing the two .Are you planing on talking to a doctor about this I would guess if your are going to like about sub you will be seeing a doctor .Taper is just removing a small amount every several days .Plz stay on one thread when you post multiple it makes it confusing for members to fallow ... hang in there if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

thanks for responding.  I have 170 pills left.  I am currently on cymbalta.  Do you think that might help?  Should I go down by a half at a time?  I take 10 or so a day.

I would not suggest you use sub tram works in to different ways as an antidepressant and as a pain reliever sub can do anything about the antidepressant part and that honestly the worst part of with.Taper is always the best way to do it with tram .whether you taper or ct tram wd is going to be rough for about a week . How many pills do you have left
