Weaning off of Vicodin

by jmh1980, Jun 03, 2009 10:28AM
I have started a weaning schedule off of Vicodin for the past 2 weeks.  Was using roughly 2 5/500 Vicodin every day.  I am cutting by 1/2 mg every 4 days.  Will this lessen the withdrawals in the end?

Any time you can wean off of a drug, the w/d's will be less. You were only taking 2 vicodins a day?

Recently, yes.  I went through withdrawals about 5 months ago after taking 3-4 per day for about 3 years. Began taking them again in March again but very controlled and took no more than 2 per day.  Been weaning down trying to lessen withdrawal symptoms hoping that's going to make a difference but, even weaning down 0.5 mg a time I still feel the body aches and anxiety kicking in.

I am currently weaning off the exact same way. I hurt, I feel sick, and I don't want to do anything but take a pill. All  because I'm taking half a pill less than I usually do.I have cut my pill consumption down by from 4 10mgs a day to 2 and a half a day. I just keep having to remind myself that this isn't going to be easy like I want it to be. I have to work at this.

I quit about a year ago cold turkey, and never want to go cold turkey again. I was clean for a couple months.

I'm curious as to how your weaning is going.
