Back, I know you didn't ask but you know what the missing ingredient is. The difference between people that stay clean and the ones that are like you, relapsing over and over is aftercare. You KNOW this. You are so smart but I don't know why you are so stuck with this part. What can it hurt? You certainly won't be in any worse a condition. Right?
Refer to above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jifmoc is right. It's the aftercare. I have not experienced addiction myself but have watched others. My sister had a 16 year crack addiction and was in and out of rehabs but fefused to follow up with the aftercare. My oldest son had an opiate addiction. He went cold turkey and then left for Greece and stayed with family there and went to college there. When he felt stronger he got his own apartment. He did not fell that conventional treatment would work for him but he knew he could not get well and stay well if he stayed in his hometown and with his friends tracking him down. Greece isn't an option for everyone I know, but the point is follow up care that will work for you. My other son has been battling heroin addiction. He is getting methadone from his doctor but not going to any meetings and is still in contact with too many of his friends. He keeps messing up and using again. Full commitment and long term follow up care is does seem to be the key. Wishing you a full and lasting, life changing recovery.
