SUBOXONE W/D

Hello everyone, I am very eager to get off the suboxone train which I have been on for about 1 year.  I just learned about the Thomas Detox Recipe, and was wondering if anyone has ever tried it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -SAM

Yes, I used it and it does work great ---- Now, that is not to say you won't have any W/D's -- it just helps ease them somewhat.  I hope you are tapering and are prepared for what lies ahead ---- it is doable and will be a little rough at times --- but stay the course -- you will soon be clean.  I recommend you go to the Health Pages (above right of this page) and look for a post titled  "Members experiences coming off of Suboxone"  It may help you.  All the best.

Sounds doable. I tried to quit cold turkey recently and know how UNBEARABLE the W/D are. By day 5/6 I gave in and took a sub- I was so dissappointed and angry at myself. I am starting a tapering plan today(starting with 2-4mg)(and thanks to people on here:), but I only have 8mg subs, I wish I knew where to get the smaller size (I no longer have a script for them, i buy them off the street) My boyfriend quit ct the same time I did and how hes feeling better(I am so jealous and proud of him at the same time) but the WD were just TOO much for me. I really regret not researching suboxones before I started taking them. But at the same time it got me off a bad oxy habit. The second time around I'm def going to get valium for insomnia. Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

Hey Sam - this will be tough for you no doubt. Make sure you come back and post what's happening. There's tons of support for you here. Try and get a pill cutter or even a knife. Or just break it into the closest possible pieces for the taper.
BTW - refusingbondage was on sub for a couple years, she's been off for 2 months or more I think. I'm sure she'll respond to you at some point as well!!

Hey Sam.  Congrats on wanting off the sub train!   All the abov advice is correct. I would definitely stress that the 8mg tabs can be cut down to small pieces for tapering.  I used a straight edge box cutter razor. Hold it straight and apply a little pressure and they cut up pretty easily.. The less mg you jump from the better-- so try to get yourself down to a literal crumb or sliver of sub a day and then every other day.  Dont have to tell you how hard coming off subs is.. seems like you know already.. but what I can tell you is it is so worth it once the physical withdrawal is over.. for me physical wd lasted quite a long time coming off subs but it didnt kill me and even though i had to dig very deep to do it, i made it through -- i am at like 85 days off subs and feeling better every single day.  Id say if you could get a few valuim use them -- i did not have any and should have prob planned better, but even without it you can do it.  Patience, strength and determination is all it takes.  Prepare yourself for the worst but hope for the best.. And try to get into some therapy, support groups or something.. even just posting on this site.  I could not have done this without the support of people here -- for sure.  There was some major depresion that hit me at about 30/60 days off and that hit very unexpectedly but it does seem common wiht people coming off subs..keep talking to people. keep posting and you can get through it.  PM me if you need any help at all.  Take care and best of luck.
