When does it get easier

When does it get easier

For 30 years I've been addicted to alcohol and 20 years addicted to codeine, I now have liver problems at age 47 and have to quit both immediately. My doctor is helping with weekly visits and low doses of Ducene/Vallium,How long do I have to live with the nausea, sleeplessness and the feeling of crawling and itching under the skin,I was taking 18 to 24 Analgesic/calmatives a day containing 500mg Paracetamol,10mgs Codeine and 5.1mg doxylamine succinate, I was also drinking 3 to 4 bottles of Bacardi Rum per week, I'm also on 200 mg of Zoloft per day to treat depression and panic disorder which can't be stopped, any ideas out there.

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad right now.  But this is a fight that needs fighting.

When will it get better?  Who knows for sure really.  But it is a plain fact that IT WILL GET BETTER.  I have not taken any pills for two weeks now and am feeling pretty good.  There is a lot to deal with after the inital detox, which is hell, but the clock continues to tick and nevertheless and you will get some relief.

The struggle is sometimes necessary in order to recognize the true gravity of the situation.  Nothing of great importance was never accomplished easily.

Focus on taking care of yourself and just take it one day at a time.

I have tremendous faith in you.  Good luck and keep posting.

Matt

I am also on zoloft only been on it about 6 weeks but now that im coming offf the Vics "day 3" I think the zoloft is able to do its job properly because my mind is feeling better. Its not all sunshine and rainbows yet and it will be a lifelong fight. It will get better day by day you can do this! WE CAN DO THIS.....Nessa
