Where are my withdraws?

I have had three failed knee replacements from 2002-2008.
Before that in 1995 I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A LONG TERM ILLNESS.
2008 I had excessive TED Hose damage to my non surgical leg from nurses never taking them off to clean or dry.
Ended up with what looked like a baby's teething ring that you put in the freezer.
These blisters were all around my lower thigh.
All in all, I have been prescribed 40mg OxyContin,3 a day, 10 mg OxyContin,2 a day, AND 5mg OxyContin ,up to 2 every four hours.
That is a lot of medicine.
I have never crushed, chewed, broke in half or( this is really gross) Snorted my medication.
My MEDS were due five days ago and my doctor will not be back for six more days.
When am I going to go withdraws and what should I look for?
I AM PETRIFIED!!!!!
I have never taken one pill to feel (HIGH) just to ease my pain so I may have the most normal walking life I can.
Please help.....am I going to get sick from not having my medications at all for six more days????? Thank you...

Does your doctor not have someone filling in for them?  This happened to me before when I was post-op.  I didn't bother checking my prescription bottle and my doctor did not inform me they were going away.  I ended up calling my surgeon and she was able to fax a prescription to the pharmacy.  I understand from your post that you are not an addict but dependent and so this is pretty unfair.
Yes you will go through withdrawals.  I jumped off 100 mg of oxy and 40 mg of hydro when I decided my pain meds were no longer working and I was scared I had become not just dependent but addicted (this dosage is pretty similar to yours)
My withdrawal was pretty rough and lasted 7 days.
If I were you I would go to the ER and tell them your story (chances are they are going to think you are drug seeking if you ask for narcotics- but if they can access your medical files and do some research they may help you out with an emergency scrip until your doctor returns)
IF NOT- they can give you clonidine which is a BP med commonly used in opiate detox.  It will cut your w/d symptoms significantly.

I am sorry this is happening to you but perhaps there is a silver lining?
Opiates are not good for chronic pain.  They often create more pain in the long run.  If you come off of them and allow your body and brain some time to heal you may find some alternative pain management that works better for you.
I did.
Regardless, we can help you through this.  keep posting and we'll all give our support.

I just came off oxycodone  65mg a day  I went to a detox center where they give suboxones IF you start to have withdrawal symptoms and I didn't.    I was on them for 2 years   When I was at home and tried to stop lets stay I didn't even make it 6hrs without taking another pills.  But at detox I didn't get anything because I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms   Weirdest thing ever.  I'm not sure if it was mental, knowing I was so far from home I couldn't get anything.  A few other people I was with they didn't get sick either and was doing herion and a ton of it. Everyone is different and their symptoms.  But when I stopped at home I thought i was dying lol that's why I chose to go to a detox place this time.  Take vitamins if you can keep them down and drink Gatorade. There is OTC rls pills as well   Good luck

Oxy is about 5-7 days acute detox and 2-4 weeks to be feeling better. That is extremely general, every body os different. I would assume diaharea, insomnia, aches and pains, restlessness, mental fog, night sweats and chills. It doesn't sound like you are an addict, but are physically dependent. That will help, usually craving and confusion are huge, but hopefully that will not be as big an issue for you. Think of it like a flu, same symptoms about the same amount of time. It really bugs me when doctors leave and don't prescribe enough to get through. Especially for a dependent person who never abuses them. One of the worst issues for me was pain, withdrawal causes more pain than is natural for our condition. Try not to anticipate what will happen, just deal as it comes. Some people have very little withdrawal, as every body is different, so let's hope you are one of them. If you are on day 5, you shoukd be through the worst of it, you should slowly feel better, just in time to get more meds. Don't let fear rule you, fear can manifest physical symptoms. Hang in there, you are through the worst of it, if I read this right and you are 5 days in already.
