I went to treatment in the begining and it gave me tools to deal with triggers and physical
situations as well as education on the chemical changes my body and brain made and will make. I also do twelve step meetings. These help me cope and I am with others like me who have been there done that. I have a sponsor who guides me thru the steps. It is a place that I can be recognized for my clean time mile stones. This is a lifelong program when I am new or struggling I go every day. And maybe once a week after I have some good clean time and have finished the steps each person is differant . There is no such thing as to many meetings. Meeting keep my illness in remission as there is no cure for addiction the only treatment is abstinance. I need to be around others who are sucsessfull at staying clean and sober . Yes, that means alcohol too. All mind altering substances. Meetings also recognize mile stones in recovery which helps. My thinking and brain are trained to think like an addict I have to retrain myself to think and live in recovery . Hope this helps it is what is working for me
