I also used hydrocodone as my doc. The first week I felt like I had the flu with anxiety!!!! The first week or two is tough but it really does get easier I promise. I used 10 mg tablets for years 3-4 per day. I know right now you may not feel like it but hot baths help so much for the aches and pains. I lived in the bath and shower makes you sweat out the toxins. I also agree with hiskid if you have access to a treadmill(I know it sounds crazy) it helps so much. I started with just 5 minutes a day and then worked up or go for a walk, I know you don"t feel like it but I promise if you do it you will be amazed, I wish you luck

Hi Thia. How are you feeling? I wanted to add that Valerian Root is a good thing for the anxiety. Not sure if it was already mentioned. For me, nothing helped physically as much as walking on the treadmill. Even though I could barely get from one room to the next in that first week :) I also made sure to take a multi-vitamin, some B-12's, and started eating better. Anything to help the energy level.

I hope you are starting to feel better and better. I was "only" taking 2 oxys as prescribed for my neck/back and went through some pretty severe withdrawals. One of the best things I did was flush everything I had down the toilet on the second day. Temptation to "take just one" can come at any time... trust me! If something happens again, tell your doc you want pain killers that are non-narcotic. There's some good stuff out there that you can walk away from no problem.

Praying for you. David

By the way, you are a very responsible person and you handled this the right way. You should be proud of yourself, not ashamed!

You are going to be just fine. If you start shaking, although I don't think you will, and they bring it up..Just say it's part of the massage! :) Helps get the toxins out or something! Ahhh..what I wouldn't give for a massage right now!! Or maybe even one on retainer lol..Anyway, its just about over!

No I have not run out, I just decide that I did not need them any longer. What do mean by taper? It has been four days since I took a pill.

You don't need to go any "recipe" for withdrawal..At such a low amount for a short time, you can bounce back pretty quickly, Please don''t panic or let some of these people scare you. You aren't an addict. Are you out of refills? It would be a good idea to taper, it won't take you very long!

I decided to stop taking the pills, I do not have cravings for the pills, I do not feel I was addicted to them, I just to took them to releive the extream pain in my foot only as need, that is why I only took one sometimes two a day and has only been for the last month as I was learning to walk again. I still have some pain but not enough to jusify the need for such a strong medication. I do not plan on taking them any more.

Hi Thia. The withdrawls are an awful thing to experience huh? If you look to right of your screen and go to the health pages you will find the Thomas Recipe. It is full of goodies to help aleviate some of the withdrawl symptoms. Check out the acid protocol as well. Usually up to a week for the worst of the symptoms to go away. Energy and insomnia tend to be the last to return to normal and can hang around for a bit. Melatonin works well to help promote sleep. It can be found in the vitamin isle. Valerian root can help promote relaxation and take some of the edge off any anxiety you may be having. Did you decide to quit taking pills? Or did you run out? Do you plan on staying off the pain med? Sorry for all the questions, but it helps to give you better advice. Do you feel as though you were addicted to them or that your body became dependent on them? There is quite a difference in the two. Are you craving the "high" that many people get taking vicodin? I will check back again to see if you left me some more info. Until then try and hang in there. This too shall pass. Take care!

You are in withdrawal. It can take weeks to go through opiate withdrawal, everyone is different. Can you get your Dr to help you taper better?
