Help wheen off Vics & Percs

I have been on and off percs, vics & roxies for the past 2 years. The past 6 months have been really bad, up to 10 percs a day at max dosages. I have also been on Lexapro that i stopped taking & xanax for anxiety when needed. I just tried to quit cold turkey 3 days ago...and i feel like death. Sweating, panic attacks, insomnia, restless legs, loss of appitiet..you name it. I finally broke down and got 10, 10mg Vics. I did this to try to wheen off, but im not sure if this is the best way. Any advise? Will i need more than 10? I am so mad at myself for getting to this point and NO ONE in my life knows what im going through because im ashamed. PLZ help if you have been through this & what worked for you the best. Thanx

THANK YOU Gnarly for your post. I have unfortunately got my hands on some Vics last night. I only took one. That one pill made my withdrawals soooo much better. My plain is to set up a schedule which i will take
3 a day for 2 days
2 a day for 3 days
1 a day, .5 a day...and so on. Over the course of 10 days and will equal about 15 pills.
I really have to be strong and stick with the schedule.
As far as  the xanax goes, it is there for anxitey to take when needed. I dont over take a dosage, that i actually take only when needed. And as far as the ambian i am all out of and cant get more.

Yes and no. I have had the same doctor for about 8 years. He only gave me a script for pain meds once. Teh rest i get/got on my own.
Also my brother and FATHER also go to him. Lets just say he doesnt exactly go by the "patient confidentiality" rule. It would break my fathers heart if he knew. As well as my bf. His father past away when he was 21 years old of cancer but had a bad pill addiction. IM SO ASHAMED!

Thank you, yes my doctor knows about the Lexapro & i dont take it anymore. The occ. half of one pill if i feel that dizzy/cloudyness and it goes away. The xanax i have not stopped taking. But only take when i reallyyyy have anxiety. But im so up and down this past week i have been mixing the xanax, ambian & pain meds. NOT AT THE SAME TIME. I think it was my way of trying to even something out in my system. I dont know the best way to get off these evil pain meds.

Did you just stop the xanax and Lexapro?  That needs to be tapered down.  The other pain meds can be stopped but not those.  Please try and not feel ashamed.  We have all been where you are at and we understand.  Doing this on your own doesnt usually work so well.  Getting some type of recovery care is a huge plus.  You can get off these meds but we want you to do this safely.  Does your doctor know you have stopped the Lexapro and xanax?

Thank you for your quick response. I did get scripts from my doctor for pain meds for no reason other then to get high. Since then i get them from friends of friends. Im really scared to go off cold turkey. I have been taking ambian as well to help me sleep. (which makes me FALL asleep but not stay asleep) Im scared im putting too many drugs in my system! I would like to think i am a strong enough person to tackle this on my own. Just not sure how.

Just joined this forum and did so to come clean myself with concerns as well so maybe what I say will help.  Cold turkey is dangerous and traumatic, and illegal for any doctor to just stop prescribing after long term opiate use for chronic pain agreement.  If you're seriously using to get high as opposed to treating real physical pain not emotional pain then you might try looking into narcotics anonymous or aa/na groups you'll find the best meeting
for you.  Sometimes cold turkey works, but for me I found myself back after a couple of years, and then got really sick for real. You have to talk to somebody for help it sounds like you want help which is courageous, and good!. MedHelp is a good start.  Blessings.
