drug abuse

my name is justin and i need help. About 6 months ago i started going to a doctor in Houston for back pain. I am prescribed 180 O.C. 80mg a month. Thats 6 a day. I can not get off and about 2 months ago I started shooting them. I called a rehab yesterday and made a appointment, went in and was told they could not help me because i was not abusing them. If 6 80s a day is not abuse i don't know what is. There is hardly a doctor in the world that will wright 180 and 180. I am 34 years old with a wonderful wife and two beautiful children. They need me. Please if any one has any suggestions on what i can do PLEASE let me know. We don't have much money and i have no insurance. There has got to be someone out there that can help me.

did you deny that you were injecting the OC? when you are seeking help honesty is your best bet. i think rehab would be good for you. it will keep you accountable at least for a while. go back and fess up. peace, sway

Hi!  Goodness, that is a lot!  Your WDs will be brutal, so I can't imagine a rehab turning you away.  I would check with another one if you are willing to do it!  

Now, even though the WDs won't be any fun, this is totally doable.  If you want to do it at home, you should taper as low as possible BY MOUTH (NO SHOOTING) and then just jump.  I think, like Gnarly said, you should talk with your doc about some clonidine.  I mean, if he will give you that much oxy, a little clonidine should be no problem at all.  It will help you so much.  But, be sure and get it from your doctor and let him supervise.  Just tell him that you want off the pills, ok?

hi and welcome to the forum ....WOW 6 80s a day thats quite a habit...I dont understand if you told them at the drug rehab you shooting them up there would be no question of abuse
something dosent sound right here...well there are 2 avenues to take here if you still got a bunch left you could taper off some and get down to a lower dose then jump off and hang on
the withdrawals are doable but no fun....plan 2 is just to jump off C/T and bit the bullet
you will be sick for a week but you will not dye from it...we have a member here his nic is htownofrown and he just C/Ted off a huge dose and now has a yr clean so it can be done
keep reading the posts and get yourself prepared for doing this...you may just want to check out some more rehabs but there just going to do the same thing you can do from home....see if you can get your dr to right you a script for clonadine its a b/p med that helps with withdrawals ....its late and im off to bed but ill check to see what you answered in the morning and will go from there keep posting and reading the posts
