demerol, then morphine are the drugs people get here IV for pain if oral meds wont cut it...dilaudid is usually given upon request or if the other meds are not covering the pain...which would be rare in a person without tolerence....diaudid is requested by paraplegics very often who have a drug dependence and are tolerent to morphine or demerol...down south tho and is highly unusual drug for pain IV for the normal public..that is here tho...i have never given a patient dilaudid iv unless they were extremely tolerant to narcotics...and i have pushed many IV narcotics in my years...watch her and keep her safe dont hesitate to call the doctor if this persists
The hallucinations are not normal, but weird that she is having the hallucinations now and didn't when she was getting the med in the hosp? Could it be another medication they gave her? Sometimes even some strong antibiotics can cause this if you have a reaction to it. Perhaps another pain medication- something long acting, or muscle relaxer? Just a thought. Definitely call the doctor and let them know about it. They may not do anything and see what she's like in the a.m. Dilaudid is actually used very frequently here where I live. It's given as often as morphine is? They really should have switched her to a pill before sending her home. Be careful and watch her close so she doesn't become addicted. If she takes them for less than 10 days, she should be ok. Let us know what happens.
that is an awfully strong drug to give a young person or child...how old is she?...i rarely see that drug given unless it is to someone with a very high tolerence to narcotics...i would get it checked asap....is she on anything now at home?
NO !! that is not normal.......Call the Doctor ASAP..........Please post to let us know that she is ok.......OK?
