alcholol during WD
I hope this question isn't inappropriate for this site. I came on here last night during a rough spell of withdrawls. I was up tossing and turning until 5 AM, and today am having a rough time with uneasy feelings and diarhea. My question though, is about alcohol. I am getting off of tramadol after a year, and before that, vicodin and percocet for the first year. The tramadol wasn't supposed to be addictive, but here I am. I do not, however have a problem with alcohol, and am wondering if a drink or two tonight would be a good idea or a bad idea. Any takers?
I agree a couple of drinks is not going to make you an alcoholic, but if you make it a habit then you are just trading one addiction for another. (kinda like you did going from percs to tramadol.)
I currently take norco(vicodin) and used to take tramadol too. The doctors told me as well that it is not addicting, but if you ask my neighbor she will tell you differently. She is an addict of tramadol and I have seen her many times going through withdrawls. Its not pretty and I am glad that I didnt have to go through that when quitting them. Just be careful with tramadol because it can interfere with alot of other meds and potentially be deadly. I had to quit taking it because I also take geodon and combining the two like I was doing for over 2 months could have killed me. The doctors did not catch, or know this, but it was the pharmacist that caught it and called my doctor.
Good luck on quitting the tramadol though. Keep up the good work,

You'll probably get a lot of different opinions, and you should know I'm an alcoholic not just a drug addict!
But to me - do what you have to - and a couple drinks isn't going to make you an alcoholic. Just realize that a habit is a habit and you'll have to break it if you do it too often.
Lots of people do OTHER stuff, alc or pot, while doing through w/d.
Do what you have to do.
