Way to go lady ---  Read the post that just went up from the lady who is hiding everything from her husband and doctor --- you are one who is really serious about getting clean.  Confession is good for the soul and the best source of help.   None of us can do this alone  - --- We all need to admit that we need help.  I so admire you sharing with your doctor.  Best to you in your desire to get clean.

Congratulations on your decision- both to taper, and to tell your doctor.  Having your doc's help will really benefit you.  Try not to get too far ahead of yourself.  Don't worry about what's going to happen 4 days from now.  Just get through today.  When tomorrow comes, you can deal with that then.  W/d is not pleasant, but don't get yourself too worked up over it either.  Its like having the flu for a week.  I think the anticipation actually makes it worse, so just take it one day at a time, and come here for your worries, questions and concerns.  We're here for you.

Good move on your part! You can do this. Xanax can help with sleep and anxiety but it too can be addictive. Just use short term.
