Thanks for helping me but how do I get to 2012 site.  My cell phone was a large wooden phone hanging on the wall that you went to and said Lilly Tomlin I want to speak to  Mr. Jones please and we did not have that until I was 12years old.  I'm just telling you how lost I am.  Sorry but thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the info.  I am not computer literate.  Every thing I do is by chance.  I have been on hydrocodone 7.5 mil, 5 or 6 per day and tramido. 50 mg 5to6 per day for 8 years. With prescription from my Dr.  He thought it was ok but, i am thru and am getting off the poison.  I will never take a pain pill  stronger than over the counter ever.  I just need to live thru this missery. The way I feel know I would rather die than live like this but I have a wonderful wife of 54 years. 3 grown children.  6 grand children 15 to 26 and 1 great  grandson 2 months. Old.  I have great support but none of my family have been where I have and don't understand. I appreciate any advice you can give me and how long I may be feeling this bad.  It has been 13 days and it seems harder and more impossible each day.  I'm being a big baby and am finding it difficult at times and just think about ending it.  My wife keeps a close watch and has hidden my guns so I guess I am doomed to recover which of course I want and plan to do and guidance from people like you will make it easier and possible.. I hope to recover and be able to help someone in need.   Thanks so much for your post. (:->} .  But tell me more I need help badly.  Thanks so much.

Some doctors and druggest don't realize how hard it is to get off of ambien if you've been on hefty amounts. It hits the same GABA receptors as Benzo. My doctor had me on 10mg a night for a while to help me sleep with my bad back. I wanted to quit it when I got clean from pain pills the first time. Going CT, the withdrawal is really tough. So I  tapered down for a long time. I got off 2 years ago August, but I still don't sleep well. But then I never was a good sleeper. I wish you luck.

I use something called "knock out" - its a combination of valarian root, melatonin and theanine. You can get it at the vitamin shop or online. Ive tried everything, and this combination works for me. Im out in 20 minutes and stay asleep for a good 6-7 hours.

I have been on ambien for almost 2 years. I went to get a refill and now my doctor says she won't prescribe it anymore. Basically, she is forcing me to cold turkey this dangerous medication. Is this safe? And is there anything I can do about it? I feel it is kind of unethical, but I may be wrong. I haven't slept more than 4 hours a night for about 3 weeks. I experience panic attacks, and the ambien gave me the euphoric feeling and allowed me to fall asleep. I'm so sleep deprived its not funny, and I have tried everything I can think of to take. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ambien worked well for me, though I sometimes had to increase the dose from 10 to 15 mg.  Lunesta did Not work.

I was once dependant on Ambien and if I were you I'd stay the hell away from it. I can't explain what it would do to me but instead of getting sleepy I would get nutty. One night I went out and spent over $500 at WalMart. I could barely remember the things I did the next morning, but I know that I did a lot of bad ****. Lunesta wasn't something that worked at all for me. I usualy double up on Tylenol PM. It takes a few hours to kick in but it's better than nothing.

call your doc.  get a new med...

if your insomnia is anxiety related, often times these types of meds (ambien, lunesta, etc.) won't work.  it may require something in the (true) benzo class to help you get some rest.

there's also a homeopathic remedy called Simply Sleep you can get at Whole Foods that i actually think is pretty dang good...

but get into a doc.  there's no reason not to... sleep deprivation is the worst and effects your entire life.  and there's no reason not to go in and get it evaluated, and treated.  i did, and was really glad i did... it helped tremendously.

good luck...
