I have had acupuncture by three different acupuncturist. Two of the three helped me, I think it is a fuction of their skill level and the frequency you have it done.
This is a question that I'm still trying to find an answer for myself. I'm disabled receiving SS benefits with chronic pain issues and I don't know how I will deal with the "pain" now that I'm an addict.
I've read alot of different approaches such as exercise, physical therapy, acupunture, but none of these worked prior to narcotics although I'm willing to try again. I've also read where some people are able to control their meds with the help of a friend or spouse. I'm still scratching my head on this one so hopefully more people will come along with some more thoughts.
I had a similar thing happen, as do most. I is your body's way to get you to take more meds. I will get better, but I do still have the pain that I origanally took meds for. However, it is not as bad, most of the time, as I thought it would be from the times I stopped taking vicodin for a week. I thought that the pain after a couple days is the way it was always going to be. Not so, it gets better.
I have been doing this myself. been off pain meds for over 9 months now. I started with good nutrition, supplements, good sleep with the help of Elavil which also helps with pain perception. Now I do lots of stretching, chiropractic work and PT at his office, yoga, steroid injections all have helped me. I have Fibromyalgia and polyarthritis. I now go to pain management for alternative treatments. I told them NO MEDS til we have tried everything else. They have been understanding and very helpful.
right now you are over-sensitized from withdrawl. Your brain needs time to heal from the pill use. There are things to help speed the healing process along. You can find them in my journal in the Amino Acid Protocol. That is where I started.
