Bkitty, so true! There are still some days when taking a shower and making it to work are my major accomplishments of the day. I get overwhelmed when I look at everything I need to do, so sometimes just focusing on one small step at a time is what gets me through.
I totally get how you feel!! You feel like you have 20lb weights on each limb and all you can do is literally lay there like your physically chained to the couch/bed/chair. I know how bad this feels. In the beginning I felt like this 90% of the time. Everyone says you have to get up and get moving and they are right. I just found that I was literally overwhelmed just thinking about it. I learned something that really helped me in aftercare,,just wanted to pass it along to you. I obviously wasnt able to multi-task,,and I get so overwhelmed thinking how this needed to be done then that. So what they taught me was go back to basics. Take care of yourself first. I started setting small tasks/goals that I would do each day. It started with I will get up at say 8am and take a shower,,,today I will change my bedding,,today I am gonna do a load of laundry. I took care of myself first,,if all I did was get up and shower,,I was clean and nothing else mattered. Start with small goals and get into a routine. Structure and routine was really important esp around the times of the day I would want to use,,like in the morning. Each day or week increase your goals slowly. The key is not to overwhelm yourself. Baby steps...Hang in there!~Bkitty
Hi bunco! Well, it is easy and hard. What helps me is to do a list and do the thing I hate the most first. Then I feel better and can move on to the other stuff. I admit I have been a slug today. Getting recycling done and a load of laundry were major accomplishments, lol. I look at it this way, at least got something done. You will have better days.
Take care,
Minn :)
easy. do a list. do the stuff on the list. bang.
is it really that just that easy or is it that hard?
Bunco, you now know you have to fight through the lethargy and get off your butt! You know you'll be glad you did. Here's what I did: I literally made a list of things I had to do. VERY simple things; brush my teeth, take a shower, do the dishes, eat something, wash the sheets, etc. I know that empty brain feeling. You will get ALL your brain power back. Just do the next right thing,
Then the NEXT....
