back on recovery

Just short of 60 days. After cold turkey emotional battle anxiety who is all but gone. I was dealing with the back pain The workload and stress at work. Bam! Bent over Shooting pain up my back Every breath with me to my knees. I relapsed. After a 2 week vacation from recovery I am 1 week clean today. The 2 weeks I struggle to stay in control I managed to stick with 2 pain pills a day. I felt terrible sick with guilt after all I went through to be clean.
Not making excuses the back thing what is a major trigger.
We must learn from our mistakes. This was a huge reminder For me Recovery is forever N you should never stop improving or better ourselves. God Bless!

Oh dear. The pill capital or so some would say.

And now you know how dangerous texting and talking are....did you bump into something?? I've tested into a wall before.

Needless to say I don't text while driving.  How's fort Lauderdale?? Me I'm an old Tampa girl. I went to college at usf....way before they had football.  Should have moved away from that place earlier. It was insane.

I wouldn't last a day down there. Way too easy to get pills.  I would have gotten way too many.  I feel you. All that advertisement. Your super stronger than me.

Good job. Yes we all kick ourselves around. Were addicts. And addicts love to wallow in self pity. As well as run a hundred miles an hour full throttle ahead....then bamb....the parking break turns itself on. And well...we rest. Then run another 200 miles an hour...crash and burn. And then we yell at ourselves. I know your kind. I do it too. But honey we aren't young anymore..right?? Something happened to us. Whatever that ails you....for le knees and other issues. I know its hard to be a slow horse when we were race horses at once. Lol.

Listen to your wife. Slow down. Take care of you. Your the one that has to live with your body forever..ok?? There's no harm in slowing down to take care of yourself. Your no good to anyone including yourself broken ok.... Easy does it...ok

All of you, after reading your replies I was filled with emotions of joy. Seriously it was like a high. Joyful feelings are still pretty new to me. Getting those feelings back is what I want most. What was supposed to improve the quality of my life. What I was told I would be on the rest of my life.
Did not at all! And I am not!! 6+yrs. slowly losing who I was.
Hey' I'm going to do this. Feeling pretty good today had 5yr.grandson over he showed me how to cook on the grill.
Thank you for some ideas for pain management. Short of some new laser beam Healing technology I've tried everything. The most simplest thing is pretty much the most effective For me. I have to loosen up with a hot shower every morning then do some stretching. Pacing myself is the most difficult I will help anybody Who asks "my wife hates that' I will work myself to the ground and then suffer for a week, thats with or without the pills been that way my whole life. Lol' this is probly my longest post. Usually short and to the point.
The 2 week relapse. Last pill last friday. Saturday and sunday didn't wanna get outta bed Sick as a dog. Guilt and depression. I don't think I really had much of any withdrawals. Just had to kick myself around for a couple of days so I snapped out of it. Had that snap of fire up my spine right after this first post. Nope didn't even think about it And it went away quickly.
A post earlier from someone with long time. Wisely reminded us How are you must continually Work on your recovery don't let your guard down. It's a beautiful feeling when you get many days can you turn a corner can you think everything is golden. Continual recovery when you feel like you're 100 percent that means you can work your recovery harder. It's good to be back Thank you

I too agree with Pat. I've had back pain that's brought me to my knees. If you made it with only two pills a day, then I think that you are a very strong person. Not sure if I could have done the same.

Pat is right, limiting your use to two a day does show strength and discipline. There are legitimate reasons for taking pain meds. Granted, if one has a history of abusing them then one has to be very careful. You caught it before it got to that point, though, so that is a positive thing.

You were only taking 2 pills a day during your relapse and you were in bad pain?  I think you are stronger than you think.  I know I am not an expert but I think that shows alot of control and strength.  Did you have to go thru withdrawals again from that amount?
I hope you get your back problem sorted out.  I deal with that as well and end up flat on my back in bed and it hurts to move.

Good for you for posting and quitting again. Dealing with pain is so difficult while going through recovery. I understand because I go through it, too. Congratulations on your week! Alternate ways of dealing with chronic pain is important. Perhaps you can talk to your doctor about things like trigger point injections, physical and massage therapy, and home TENS and traction units. I know it isn't easy, believe me, yet you now realize it triggers you and you can plan accordingly.

Best wishes,
Minn
