best way to come off pain pills

i have heard of suboxone but its expensive, then ive heard of tapering down, theres those that have gone to methadone clinics.
what are the pros and cons to each....ive done my research but they are mixed and honesly i feel that in this site i will get better responses.
so
suboxone
tapering down
methadone.

i dont do them but i know someone close is trying to quit....which is the safest way to come off n better in the long run without puttin a hole in pocket...and less painfull?

Hi, welcome to the forum..

maybe you can give more information about the person's addiction story ? so you can get better answers....

i think that suboxone can be a good tool but i would go for it only depending on the abuse and  after several attempts quitting without success.

but about your question which is the better in the long run ? i would say that the best way not only to stay clean but to be on recovery is to make life changes. we must work hard on our recovery, staying clean is much harder than getting clean....Going to the roots of our addiction and learning tools to live without pills are a must for us....going to NA meetings( 12 step program), to an addiction specialist, counselor, private therapy, whatever it may work for us.... there are many ways of adressing these issues.....but we'd better address them :) along with leading a healthy life ( healthy eating, exercising and rest ) and getting rid of any toxic relationships are the best things in the long run :)
