breastfeeding on subutext

Does anyone know if I'm on subutext while pregnant,  if I breastfeed after the baby is born will it help the baby not have withdrawal symptoms? And please no one judge me for being on this while I'm pregnant, trust me its the last thing I want but the doctor won't let me finish tapering since I'm pregnant now. I hate this and am so worried about my little on going through the withdrawal after being born. Any information would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Yes he is and yes definitely so we both hate still being on them. We were both in the process of weening off from 16mg down to 4mg when we found out,  my husband still plans on getting off now if he can with me still on it. I'm hoping to get off soon after I give birth,  we both have over 3 and a half years clean so its definitely time.  We have both changed so much I really don't worry about going back to using either of us. However my doctor was in no hurry last time to start weening me off after being on pain meds after having a c-secion. Which will be the case this time also, so I hope it doesn't take a long time afterwards this time. We are just both so sick of having to still depend on something everyday!  And also I will like to volunteer to help others trying to fight this horrible addiction but I don't feel comfortable in doing so until I am completely clean, so that motivates me to get off even more.

Congrats to you both on getting off heroin!  Is your husband on Sub too?  Any plans to get off it after the baby is born?

Thank you for your responses I'm due in the beginning of April not sure yet what we're having, should find out soon though. Can't wait hope it is a boy since I already have 2 beautiful daughters. I was asking this because I was on subutext while pregnant with my 3 year old and when I had her they refused to let me breastfeed her because of being on it, hoping things aren't the same this time around as I heard it may help the baby not have bad withdrawal. They didn't know much at that time about being pregnant on subs or breastfeeding on it. Hoping to find out a lot more info to give to my doctor on this since most ob's don't know much about this it seems. The doctors aren't even communicating about this just what I tell them.  It just ***** because I never wanted to go through this again on subutext but luckily I had already got down to 4mg by the time I found out.  But I can't wait for this new baby so excited and so is my husband,  we were both addicted to herion really bad until we found out I was pregnant with our3 year old but we both did great after finding out and stopped.  And now our lives couldn't be any better, happier or more blessed.  Our lives are so completely different now its great andwe both found god through our recovery and I'm sure thats why we are still clean to this day. Well that and the wonderful children god has blessed us with,  I wish all addicts could see how great life could be if they can just do the hard work to get clean and learn a new way of living so they can staythat way.

I agree with NG.  I am so glad your OB knows what is going on.  Talk with him/her about your fears and about breastfeeding.

When is the baby due?

Nothing to be ashamed of hon.  The MOST important thing is that you and baby are under a doctor's care...and your doc is actually following typical protocol.  Pregnancy really isn't the time to be tapering.  It's more risky than just maintaining.

You'll have to discuss nursing with your OB.  Usually they will recommend it, to help with any possible w/ds, and you may be asked to kind of taper off to formula.  A lot of how they proceed will depend on how the baby does after delivery, withdrawal speaking.  When are you due hon?  What are you having?  Is this your first baby?

Be very proud of yourself that you're handling this the right way, with your doctor.  SO many pregnant Moms hide it or fail to be honest with their docs out of fear (understandably)....and then suffer some bad consequences as a result.
