cocaine addiction (not promoting drugs)

cocaine addiction (not promoting drugs)

my friend is using cocaine, says he will never smoke it, he finds it hard to see his future without some cocaine use in his future and he is worried about what it will lead to. he is trying to stop and wants to, but he wants to know how far into withdrawals and stuff he can get from snorting cocaine.

again he just wants to know what snorting powder cocaine will do to him in the future, not crack

so what kind of withdrawals can happen from this kind of cocaine use?

thanks

Cocaine does not have physical w/d's, but the crash can last a few days. I did so much coke my crashes were horrible. Even though it was not physical w/d's like opiates, i was always sick after, my nose would pop, severe depression, irratibility and cravings so bad, i was physicaly sick.

Cocaine is one of the most powerful, mentally addictive drugs and it will rewire his brain, eat a hole in his nose, expand his heart size, and damage the nervous system faster then most other drugs. I battled this for years unable to stop until an overdose and almost lost my life so he is playing with fire. During my use, NOBODY could help me. Does he think cause he is not smoking crack, that it is ok. I hope he gets some help. How long has he been using.

Hard to see the future without coke? How about hard to see a future with coke? With continued use in any form you will run the risk of sudden death with each snort. With prolonged historical use you will have high blood pressure, enlarged heart, and risk of stroke at minimum. Since he is snorting and not smoking he will probably die with decent lungs. He might possibly die in the midst of siezures when his respiration is in full arrest and he is rolling around on the floor. He will most likely be destitute since people get so far into even snorting coke that all resources go to the next high. And it is not a cheap habit to support. Sound like a good deal? I started getting into coke when I was 20. By the time I was his age, at 22, I was entering a Federal Prison for a coke deal gone bad. Its nothing but a losing proposition.

Like Rick James says cocaine is a hell of a drug...I was a serious coke addict for about two years and I can tell you the worst parts of cocaine use. First, the come down. The degree how bad your come down is directly related to the amount of blow you do. And I disagree with comments made above, Coke is absolutely physically addictive. That's why when you have withdrawals your body craves more of it just to sustain. The second problem is your bank account. Don't look at your bank statements when coming down...I don't believe coke will permanently rewire your brain but it certainly won't be thinking rationally will under the influence. Super long term use could be a different story.

Long and short coke is super fun (like all drugs I suppose) but the repercussions associated with even single use don't really rationalize the high that you get.

To answer your question. The withdrawals that you get are awful...

Cocaine is not physically addictive. A body craving more opiates is just psychological...the same way as coke treats you. Its just a craving.  Hate to disagree with you, rlucas. But I did coke longer than you have been alive. I smuggled it. I used it. I went to Federal Prison for 3 years over it. As hard as I tried I couldnt become physically addicted to it.

not to play off how ****** you can feel when quitting coke but i agree with the eagle. i did coke before i started using pills and H and when i started injecting i mixed coke or crack with it EVERY time for years. but i would never do coke if i didnt do H with it, people could be doing coke right in front of me and if i wasnt oh H or didnt have any to use with it i wouldnt even look at it. if i was dependent on it physically, which i should have been from injecting it every day for years i would probably have needed to do some coke no matter what. coke is sickening. ive seen it ruin all my friends lives that werent H addicts. and just as bad. broke, unemployed, skinny, no where to live, nobody to care about them. i like what was said up top. he cant imagine his life without coke, what about with coke. its a terrible drug and odds are he will end up smoking it at some point cuz some day someone will have crack and not coke and he will be jonesing, then its a whole new ballgame. i was in the medical profession before ruining with drugs and i saw 24 year old come in with heart attacks. my brother in law(former bro in law, father of nephews)just had a heart attack and he is 32. guess from what. coke. he now lives in his parents basement and is on disability after making 17 dollars with benefits at a grocery store cutting meat. it took his life away. and it will take your friends too.

Formula makes a good point that I had forgotten.......you can eat and maintain some sort of nutrition if you do H and coke together. H takes a bunch of the rough edges off. And coke trashes your appetite as well as amphetamines do. Thats not an endorsement of heroin.....but coke is very hard on you physically - - all stimulants are. Your central nervous system is so far out to lunch when doing coke that its easy to have all kinds of bad things happening.

Dude cocaine is NOT physically addictive. You still w/d from coke, but it's not like opiates in that sense. Yes, coming down I got very sick, even RLS, massive sweating and insomnia. I also had nose pain, paranoia, muscle spasms, and overdosing was the most agonizing night of my life. When i stopped convulsing and gagging on my own vomit, 2 ribs popped out in my back and had to lay on the ground for over 6 hours, only able to move my toes. Yes coming down causes sickness and it's scary, but the body does not depend on this drug to function, but like I say the mental aspect of this drug is not something someone can understand until they have been there. The brain can do some powerful things when it wants coke bad enough, even get you high without using just so you breakdown and use. I am terrified of this drug now, all drugs.

For the longest time i got that way too, just seeing this drug, even on tv, my nose would start twitching and I would crave. I am so so happy to no longer have to fight this everyday like I did for awhile, but there are still rough moments. We can heal and life is amazing without dope. Glad to hear you have stopped, it's so tough for awhile:(. To this day there is no chance i can be around anyone that uses, i have no doubt it would get me again.

I feel that the pre-use jitters is associated with nerves and anxiety. I also got nauseous when I was anticipating use! I agree with Giz that it is so nice to have that an historical issue and no longer a current consideration.
