Normal?  What is that?  LOL!   :)

Your screen name reminds me of good days when my kids were young playing in the pool.  Long before this nightmare took over my life.

You should start feeling normal in the sense of not physically ill soon.  Give it up to a week.  You didn't get where you are in ar few days and your body is washing all the crud out of it.

Normal in the sense of everyday thinking?  I think that's what brought us all to our knees.  For addicts, we always felt like there was something diffferent or wrong with us.  I know I never felt normal.  We use to escape that feeling.  So like others have said, finding a new normal for us is work.  Not that it is all bad, just a new way of living life.

Im new here too, so welcome!  Some very good people here with excellent advice and words of wisdom.  All in varying degrees of recovery.  Keep posting and reading...it does help!

Hi marcopolo (I TOO love the name btw :)  ) We all feel your pain and early withdrawls are no fun at all. They do get better! In 2-3 days you will start to see the cloud lifting a little bit. I know its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel now, but its there. Promise!

One thing that has helped me stay on course, and may work for you is, reminding myself daily of why I quit! Like you, I lost alot of friends, lost my career, lost money, lost time, and almost lost my freedom. So when I had those weak moments (and I still have lots of them) I remember all that these pills have made me lose and what more there still is for me to lose if I continue down this road. Ive written them all down and read it daily. Also, maybe start walking a few times a da if you can? It helps alot with the mental part as well as makes you feel better because of endorphins being released.

Life is SO much better without pills! You can do this! Just keep fighting and soon you will see how much better for you life can be! Im pulling for you!

Hi
You're in the wrong place if you are looking for normal lol.
Just kidding but seriously what you will find if you remain clean is a brand new you.  A better you.  You will probably be more empathetic and a better person after all the hell you have been through battling your addiction.
Don't beat yourself up for what's happened in the past.  Just concentrate on your bright future.

All that sadness will change, THAT I promise. With each day your not using, your life will start to mend. This is not hopeless and your worth the effort. Get thru the physical then get on the mental. Undertow said it perfectly. By losing all your using friends, you'll open up the space for more solid relationships (woman included ha). Most important. DON'T USE. You don't want to be in this dark place a year from now. You'll be amazed at the greatness that awaits you if you get well. Love to have you as a friend, stick around....YOU can do this!

Oh and to answer the question lol,
To me, i don't know if normal is really such a thing, once an addict it takes time to find a new normal because our brain never functions the same again. And those that never walk our path will never truely understand either.

Love your screen name. Physically you'll be on the edge for awhile longer. many say they turn the corner between 5-9 days. How many roxys did you take a day? Do you have any support from family or na meetings close by? The mental is a process and you've made a good start by coming here and reaching out. Isn't it the truth, those pills rob us of all things near and dear to us. Before we know it we're sucked into their grip and another year goes by while we battle. Hang tight, more will be along to lend support. Better days are ahead.

Hang in there,it gets worse then beter, the rollercoaster ya know?
One thing for sure,if you stay quit and change your lifestyle as to stay clean, all the people that help you use will diseapear and make room for the other that care to come back.
We all go thru this you are far from alone.Day 3 is a milestone in my book, hang in there more support will come i am sure.
And lemme tell ya at 41 years old i have very few friends,i like it that way.I have all i need in my woman and my kids and some family, and 1 true friend of 25 years.
Sometimes people leaving your life isn't a bad thing, only time will show you this.
Hang tite it does get better i promise,a long hard road worth walking, don't try to run it as you will tire.
