Another milestone in my methadone taper

Hi everyone, I have been waiting anxiously for this day. After 2 1/2 long years I have been tapering my methadone. I was at 130mgs at the highest and today I am at 15mgs! This makes me excited but somewhat anxious as I know I am coming up to a time where I am not going to start feeling well. I am trying not to be negative about this, I just know how it goes. I am hoping that because I have done such a long, slow taper, my detox may not be as bad as it could be. I have been going down 1mg/week and so far it has been okay. I am prepared though, that if things start to get rough, I will hold the taper for 2 weeks instead of one, hoping to level out. Pretty soon I am going to be needing your support, so I will keep posting as time goes on.

Are there any other people out there who have been on methadone and can tell me of their experience when being at low doses such as 15mgs or 10mgs?

Thanks weaver I really appreciate your comments. Okay I guess it's time I get the vitamins and amino acids. I thought I would wait until the actual detox but the way you have explained it, I understand totally that I should be using those things now. I never really thought about it that way, thank you so much!!

Just wanted to tell you how much admiration I have for what you are doing. I tried, but ended up on subs for 20 days. You are doing it the right way. I would recommend getting the vitamins and some amino acids now. You're brain is healing as you drop and needs the nutrients. When I forgot to take mine one day, on my sub taper, I really noticed the difference. Most of us are malnourished by the time we detox, and it's important to give the body what it needs as it needs it to recover. Once again, I'm really impressed. Keep on keepin' on, you are amazing.

Thanks gnarly, I appreciate the response. I haven't got the calcium/magnesium/zinc supplements yet, thought I would wait a bit longer but I will be getting them shortly.
