(((Dustin))) I'm so glad you told your mom!  That's so great!  Asking for help was the LAST lesson I learned in all my years of using.  That, and one more thing.  That it's ok to have a bad day.  That I don't have to medicate every day into being "good".  Especially when that became impossible!  Anyway, your mom will be a lot of help to you.  You did a good thing for yourself by telling her!

You can do it!  Let us know how you're doing today, ok?

hey dustin! I am 12 days clean and happy to report feeling much better. less back pain than I ever had taking the pills. I had built up a tolerance to 240mg oxy/day. so this is definitely doable. I did what was suggested on here tapered then went cold turkey when i got down to one pill/day. Ive been going to NA meetings regularly and they are a great help. by the way i live in Aurora.

Hi Dustin - welcome to the forum.  You are in a good place, looks like you are making the right steps - communicating, asking for help, and taking the advice the others are givng you.  Most of us on here have been in your shoes and walked down the same path.  The good news is that with the dose you were on and type of medication, the withdrawal should be fairly short - a few days - and you should start to feel much better fairly soon.  Hang tight, keep posting and expressing how you feel and most of all, go to a meeting - it will really help.  Best of luck to you.  S

Hi Dustin!

I'm somewhat in the same boat.  My pain medication usage started out with valid reasons (surgeries, etc) and only recently did I start thinking OMG am I going from physical dependency to full blown addiction.  My doctor was absolute no support at all.

It made me homesick when I saw where you live.  I lived off of Kipling and Simms area for years until we had to move closer to family down by the Gulf.  I wanna come home wahhh.

Anyway, I wish I was still there.  I think we could support each other throughout the next days and weeks.  Thank god your mother is being so supportive.  That will help you more than anything else.  Just tell her (same thing I told my husband) that even if they see us in pain they have to let us be in pain until the worst is over.  You CAN do it and so CAN I.  Let's do it together and here in a week or so we'll tip an imaginary cup of coffee or something to each other okay?

I'm praying for you (and also knowing that you and I are going through the same thing at the same time is in some strange way kind of comforting...I'm am not alone and neither or you!)

Hi Dustin....im glad to here you told your mom....thats a huge step in recovery and you couldn't find anyone to be behind you more then your mother...im an addict but also the father of a ex/methamphetamine/crack addict...my daughter put us thew absolute hell for almost 5yrs but I never once stop loving here or trying to get help for her.....like many addicts she quit when she hit her rock bottom and has been clean for 4 yrs now...getting involved in a 12 step program will help you bound measure so many on this forum resists the very thing that will help the most it is a great decision on your part...this is all part of a great attitude and that will get you threw this...the next few days will be a little ruff but with your attitude and a strong will YOU CAN DO THIS wile power on its own wont do it but with the help of others and some good guidance this will be over b/4 you know it....I already gave you the pep talk now lets roll up your sleeves and get down to the dirty work...we will support you all the way but its up to you to put in the work...you got to want it bad....real bad and be willing to put up with a few days of discomfort to get there but in the end it is SO SO WORTH IT good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
