I think i'm ok

hi everyone,

this question is mainly for Eagle but anyone can answer.  As you know i have been taking butabital for about 5 years (barbituate)  the last year i was probably averaging about 10 per day.  about a week ago i decided i hated and needed my life back.  I have been decreasing my dosage.  I have started Wednesday down to 8 for 3 days, sat and sunday down to 7 pills and today i did 6 ( 2 at 7am, 2 at noon, and 2  4pm.) i will stay on 6 until thursday, and then down to 5 and so on.  I also have been taking vitamin b12 and drinking alot of water and juices.  I really haven't felt too bad, I don't have a buzz but i think i can handle this.  Does anyone know if i am going to fast and when the withdrawls get really bad, because i heard they can be pretty nasty.  I think will go see the doc next week when I am down to 4 or 5 per day and see what he says. Is vitamin b12 supposed to help with withdrawls and tapering????

You are tapering way too fast! I did that when I first started to taper and felt ok for a few days too, but then it snuck up on me and hit like a Mack truck. Not all Dr's know how to taper a person off a habit like that.  My GP was very kind and compassionate, but she didn't know better and recommended I drop my dose by 1/2 every month. That wasn't gradual enough. I'm really glad I found the support I got from this group. Wish I had found it before I decided to get off the drugs. Keep posting.
