I feel so bad for you.  So what is the plan?  Are you going to wait for all the years to get your knee replacement?  Can the dr do anything to change the insurance companies mind?  It would be terrible for you to be on pain meds until the knee replacement.

I found that opiates made me gain weight.  I wasn't able to lose weight until I stopped the opiates.

Hi, Hope today finds you better!! I read a cool line somewhere here this morning that simply made my day: You Are The morning daughter Of God!" That phrase I will be holding onto.
I really feel for you. I am new on this forum. . . .but I have found alot of comfort from it. READ other Posts. . . . THEY HELP!!!! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!
One thread I read this morning was about someone talking about MD's NOT prescribing enough. . . .because of US addicts. WHOA!!!!!! The 1st thing I always ask people in recovery is: "So. . . . did you pick/choose it? Did you wake up athe age of 15 17 or 20 and say I think I am going to be an addict when I grow up? Yeah. . . . That's a good idea!!!

Let's face it. . . YOU have some serious medical stuff going on here!!! It saddens me to hear that your MD's solution to all of this is let's increase the dose. . . . Hence why you are on this forum in the 1st place????

I think you really DO need to explain ALL of this to your doctor. . . . Although, after hearing what's going on with you I am not sure they would totally Help. Can you find another MD???? also. . . .just curious are you going to a Pain Management Center for your Pain???

Blessings and Prayers coming your way!!!

Have you tried to do yoga or breathing exercises for your pain? Pain meds work for awhile but then you will need more and more as time goes on. As you littlebit667 maybe you can try to lose some weight, I know when I did it helped my back immensely. I will pray for you and God Bless---Rick

I did not have your pain needs, but my back was horrible for many years.  I did find that losing weight helped me so much.  I am not saying you have not tried...like inner..I am just saying maybe it is something that you CAN control.  Even on pain meds, I managed to lose weight.  I do not want to beat you up about it, but the truth is...that may help more than just about anything else.  Let us know what is knowing on.  I do not want to say something that may not be helpful.  I can tell you are really struggling.  If we can help, we will.  But, sometimes that means saying the hard things.

Darlin, I hear how scared you are. But remember there is always a way to get out of our misery whether it be mental, emotional, physical or spiritual with baby steps. You have a lot on your plate and need to take this one step at a time. First step, if you really want off these meds talk to your dr. Tell your dr everything. The second step which I know feels overwhelming is you have to try and loose some weight. I'm not saying you haven't tried but the weight is going to make your whole body hurt 100x more. I really want you to be healthy and happy. Please take baby steps and do what you can handle, ok...

hello and welcome to MH.
talking to your doctor about a taper schedule and having someone hold your pills through the taper will be very beneficial.
many, many times the pain is actually worse on the pain meds.
have you tried other methods of pain management? physical therapy, hot or cold compresses, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, massage, exercise, weight loss?
the opiates have a tendency to also cause weight gain.
have you considered counseling or support groups such as na/aa??
you are not alone, we are here to help you and support you.

I hope you know how to get back to this post. I just now figured it out and have been on here for four weeks.

Talking to the doctor is def a good idea. I know you are scared of the pain, but you don't want your addiction to lead to worse problems. Because of pills I have LOST everything! My house, car, personal belongings, respect from family members with whom I used to be close with.

You noticing your addiction is a PLUS... That's the first step others usually don't want to admit to.....
